Headmaster of discipline, Mr.

Lim Peng Sianʼs retirement

The 33 years he had spent imparting the right skills and knowledge onto the students, seems like it was yesterday
he started his teaching career.

Mr. Lim Peng Sian embarked on the road to be a teacher at the infamous Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education with Honours degree in 1989.

He then went on to spend the next 33 years of his teaching career in spreading knowledge to students of 6
different schools in total. On 16.5.1989, as a fresh graduate, his first posting was at SMK Kinabutan, Tawau,
Sabah, where he soon spent 4 years teaching there until 30.11.1992. He was then posted to SMK Datoʼ Idris,
Pantai Remis on 1.12.1992 till 30.11.1995. His third posting was on 1.12.1995 and lasted till 30.11.2002 at SMK Datoʼ
Kamaruddin in Batu Kurau. Next up, he was transferred to SMK Klian Pauh, Taiping on the 1.1.2005 till 31.12.2010.
His second last transfer was on 1.1.2011 till 1.5.2012 at SMK Sri Kota, Taiping. Last but not least, he was
transferred to his current school SMJK Hua Lian, Taiping on the 2.5.2012 where heʼll spend his last days of his
teaching career at and retiring on the 17.2.2022.

One of a fond memory Mr. Lim Peng Sian has was when he first came to SMJK Hua Lian, he who mainly thought
Form 4 and 5 chemistry suddenly teamed up with other Form 6 chemistry teachers because of a shortage of
teachers and ended up teaching 3 batches of Form 6 students.

Other than being a dedicated chemistry teacher, he was also a disciplinary teacher. Apparently, he was a
disciplinary teacher ever since he started his teaching career. Naturally, when he came to SMJK Hua Lian, he also
became a disciplinary teacher, but in 2015, after Mr. Goh, the headmaster of discipline at that time retired, he took
on the pose of headmaster of discipline.

When asked what challenges he faced during his years of being a disciplinary teacher, he said he was used to
facing students with different disciplinary problems and he thanked the school prefects for doing a job well done.
“ Learn and reflect from the punishment so that you wonʼt do it again “, that was his advice to those students who
had disciplinary problems in order for them to turn over a new leaf. He also told that he has no regrets in being a
teacher and the headmaster of discipline, his life motto was to move forward in life and do the best that we can
and being responsible in playing his roles well.

His thoughts on retirement are simple, “If it was bound to happen, it will happen” , just like his time to retire just
like the other teachers who have retired, he has done his part and carried out his responsibilities. Although he
does not have any plans on what he wants to do after retiring, he plans to go where the wind blows and just go
with lifeʼs flow.

His last wishes to his fellow comrades and students is to take care of their health and he hopes everyone
succeeds in whatever they do, whether it is their academic or career.
