Controller A removable controller is focaled in the upper machine room and contains the motor starr, Switched, relays, and brake circuit, 2) Satety Features 1. Starting switches A key-operated ster escalator, 10 Switch Is provided in the newel skirt at the top and bottom landings of each 2. Brake An electrically released and spring-applied brake is mounted on the escalalor drive. If power is removed from the escalator by any of the safely devices, the brake will engage to stop the fuly loaded escalator, 3, Emergency Stop Button : ‘An emergency stop button is installed on the top left and bottom right balustrade newels to stop the escalator on demand. 4, Broken Drive Chain Switch A broken drive chein switch is installed in the upper to stop the escalator motor olecticaly and ‘mechanically if the dfive chain (#100-2) breaks. 5, Broken Step Chain Switches ‘Two (2) broken stop chin switches are installed in the lower truss to stop the escalator if ether the step chain breaks or stretches, 6. Stop Upthrust Switch AA step uptirust switch is installed in the lower right truss to remove power from the escalator motor When any step Is fied above its normal position, causing the brake “to enoage .end stop the escalator. 7. Handrail Guard ‘A handrail guard is provided at each point of enty and exit of the exposed handkal discourage insertion of foreign objects into the handrail drive, 9. Handrail Guard Switches Four (4) hancral quar switches are installed, one at the inside of each handrail, to stop the ‘escalator if @ foreign object becomes wedged between the handrail and handrail quard. 10. Skirt Switches Four (4) skit switches, two upper truss and two lower, are provided to remove power from the escalator should an object wedge between the skirt and steps. Over Load Relay Current over load relay will stop the escalator when over-current will flow. This is located in controler. 13. Combplate Switches A combplate switch is installed at each end of the escalator to remove power from the ctive unit and engage the brake if a foreign object becomes wedged between the step and combteeth, or if the combplate is lifted. 14, Floomplate switches A foomlate switch Is provided at each floorpiste to prevent the escelator from starting during maintenance work, 15. Stopped Handrail Switches ‘Twol2) handrail speed sensing devices are provided, one at each upper side of the handrails, to ‘stop the escalator when the handrait stops or if the speed varies more than 20% 16. Broken Step/Step Level Switches Four(4) broken step switches, two upper truss and two lower, are installed to interrupt the safety Circuit and stop the escalator if a step breaks or falls away from the passenger side ol the escalator by @ specified distance, 17. Under Step Lighting Under step lighting is provided by means of two 20 walt fluorescent lamps at both enitance and ext ends of the escalator. 18. Step Demarcation Lines. Molded yellow synthetic resin inserts are provided at 3 sides of each step treadboard for passengers to distinguish the separation between steps. 3) Other Optional Features 1. Truss assembly consisis of preparing the ttuss for assembly aligning and mating the truss sections, ‘and securing the sections with the supplied hardware. 3.1. Inspect truss for damage that may have occurred in transit to the wellway. 82. Il not already done, remove paint from mating faces of upper and lower truss sections and track faces. File surfaces smooth as required. 33. Instal two iting cables at pickup points closet 10 end of upper and lower truss section to be joined, (see fig. 6) 3.4. When truss is lowered to the floor, make sure that both sides of the truss section are level Inspect escalator equipment, 42 Truss leveling Truss should be levelled at uoper and lower axle foler tracks. When two or more escalators ‘are arranged side by side, they are al to be leveled to the same height, 43, Method of truss teveting ‘| Insert shims: and adjust level, Place level and straight edge across axle roller tracks in landing. If the ted lamp is lighted and the relay does not operale, the relay should be checked for replacement. @ Adiust the sensitivity of photo sensor. © Connect the cable again to the switch, and check whether the escalator operates normally.
