STATE

INSTITUTION
it is a community of persons, more or less numerous, occupying a
definite portion of earth surface, having its own government,
through which the inhabitants render habitual free from outside
control.

GOVERNMENT
The government is that body
where people, through their
representatives, can express their
desire. This is where that laws to
be implemented in the country
are enacted.

THREE BRANCHES OF
GOVERNMENT
1. Legislative
formulate the will of the
state i.e. performs law-
making functions.

2. Executive
enforces and implements
the laws i.e. performs the
law-application functions.

3. Judiciary
- which applies the laws to
specific cases and settles the
disputes i.e. performs
adjudication functions.

These institutions coupled with the

practice of the rule of law and the
social contract ensured that citizens
had access to basic services, could rely
upon the courts to enforce the law, and
enjoyed better standards of living
because they were well-taken care of
by the state.

When we talk about institutions, we mean the bureaucratic setup,

the judiciary, the armed forces, the governance structures, and
the overall umbrella of regulatory agencies and the executive.
