3.0 Supply, Installation and Modification of Equipment for RO Project
3.0.1 Introduction
‘The Reverse Osmosis Plant at Shuwaikh Power and Water Distillation Station (SHPS) consists of Doosan
designed RO plant units with capacity of thirty (30) million gallons per day. (MIGPD).
‘The objective of this tender is for the supply, installation of new seawater debris filter system, by-pass line,
inlet, outlet and by-pass motorized butterfly isolation valves, modification of existing seawater recycle line,
including all mechanical, electrical, instrument and control, and civil excavation and construction works,
MEW requires a reputable engineering company to carry out the mechanical, instrument and control, and civil
works for the supply, installation, and modification of equipment for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant and
shall be treated as a Turnkey Project. The works shall be in accordance with and shall meet the original design
criteria.
This Tender Document also covers all required site investigations, engineering, material procurement, supply,
manufacturing, shop inspection, packing, shipping, site acceptance tests (SAT), dismantling, erection,
‘commissioning, and all other activities.
3.0.2 Scope of Supply
3.0.2.1 by MEW
1. Site facility utilities, electricity, water and location for site offices and storage areas.
2. Laydown areas for temporary scrap material disposal
3. Available drawings for RO plant systems
4. Alll relevant permits to work.
3.0.2.2. by Contractor
‘The Contractors Scope of Supply shall be applicable to all sections under this Tender and shall include, but
not be limited to the following: -
1. All bidder(s) must visit Shuwaikh Plant before submitting bid offers to familiarize themselves of the
extent of works required in this tender document. All bidder(s) must perform site surveys and inspections
of existing plant infrastructure, identify areas requiring excavations, and trench stabilizations to prevent
collapses and damage to existing plant. The site visits will enable bidder(s) to prepare bid offers with full
understanding of actual site and operational conditions, and for preparation of manufacturing, supply,
delivery, construction programs and procedures that will have minimal interruptions to existing plant
operations and availability, ete.
2. The necessary specialist manpower, skilled and unskilled manpower resources, for the execution of the
mechanical, electrical, instrument and control replacement works.
3. The necessary tools, equipment, scaffold materials, consumables, vehicles, trailers, mobile cranes, lifting
appliances etc., and any necessary materials for the execution of the tender specification works.
4. The necessary vehicles, trailers, mobile cranes, lifting appliances, etc., for removals, transportation, and
disposal of all scrap materials from the temporary site scrap laydown areas to MEW Subhan Stores after
completion of the tender specification works.

1. New Debris Filter System
Due to operational requirements a new debris filter with backwash, by-pass line, inlet, outlet, and by-pass
motorized butterfly isolation valves are required to be installed in the existing underground GRP seawater
supply pipeline with filter elements to handle mussel shells, algae, seaweed, seagrass, jelly fish, and all other
particulate matter coming from the sea. The new debris system cooling seawater minimum operating pressure
‘must be maintained. The existing hypochlorite dosing is only undertaken once a day.
3.1.1.2 Scope of Supply
The Contractor's scope is for one (1) new debris filter system and shall include but not be limited to the
following: -
1. Supply, detiver, instal, test and commission new debris filter with backwash facility and by-pass line,
inlet, outlet and by-pass motorized butterfly valves, actuators, gaskets, bolting, supports, etc., and
including all mechanical, electrical, instrument and control equipment and components, local control
panels, power and control cables, conduits, etc. The debris filter controls must be integrated into existing
DCS system in the RO plant control room.
2. Supply, deliver, modify, install new GRP by-pass pipe, tee-piece, 90° elbows, reducers, mating flanges,

3. Supply and deliver all necessary materials, concrete, aggregate, sand, reinforcing bars, backfilling soil,
bedding sand, pit ladder, pit drain system, steel cover plates, etc.
4. Supply and deliver recommended spare parts, consumables, and contractual spare parts.
3.1.13 Scope of Work
‘The Contractor's scope is for one (1) new debris filter system with by-pass line and shall include but not be
limited to the following: -
1, Excavate area around existing GRP seawater underground pipeline at required location, excavate area
around existing GRP seawater recycle line. Construct new debris filter concrete pits and any other pits, if
required, install pit ladders and steel covers, ete.
2. Cut existing GRP seawater pipeline, install new debris filter into existing GRP line, install new GRP by-
pass pipe, install new inlet, outlet, drain lines and vent lines for each modified lines, by-pass isolation
butterfly valves, install new GRP backwash discharge line to sea, modify existing GRP recycle line,
install new tee-piece, 90° elbows, reducers, flanges, etc. Install new local control panels, electrical
power, instrument cables, field instruments, etc, test, commission, and handover system to MEW.
