Voltage and insulation measurement

  DANGER

Danger to life from voltages AC ≥ 30 V and DC ≥ 60 V.

Severe or fatal injuries from electric shock/electric arc.

– Wear arc flash protective clothing (at least APC 2, minimum 318 kJ).

– Wear helmet with visor (at least APC 2, minimum 318 kJ).

– Wear insulating protective gloves (at least APC 2, minimum 318 kJ) with glove liners.

– Wear safety shoes.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

♦  High-voltage test module -VAS 6558 A-

♦  Vehicle diagnostic tester

Procedure

  DANGER

Danger to life due to high voltage.

Severe or fatal injury from electric shock.

– The high-voltage system must be de-

energised by a suitably qualified
technician.

– De-energise high-voltage system → Chapter.

  DANGER

Danger to life from voltages AC ≥ 30 V and

DC ≥ 60 V.

Severe or fatal injuries from electric

shock/electric arc.

– The following work must be supervised

by an additional specialist with
appropriate qualification (at least a
mechanic qualified as EIP).

– The second person may support the HVE

if required by providing assistance
within the framework of his/her
qualification.

– Observe country-specific laws and

regulations.

  Note

All tests are performed with the high-voltage test

module -VAS 6558 A- and the → Vehicle diagnostic
tester.
– Open high-voltage battery 1 -AX2-
→ Chapter.

– Perform measurement using → Vehicle

diagnostic tester.

Measurement 1

♦  “High-voltage system – overall functions”

“High-voltage test module VAS 6558/VAS
♦
6558A”
♦  “Voltage measurement”
♦  “Type of measurement/function selection”
♦  “Low impedance voltage measurement”
♦  “Perform continuous measurement”

Make sure that the high-voltage system is de-

energised by measuring voltage at high-voltage
network connector.

  Note

The cables 2 and 3 shown in the illustrations are

only present on high-voltage batteries 1 -AX2- with
DC charging connection.

– Connect high-voltage test adapter -VAS

6558/16- to high-voltage network connector.

– Check voltage between high-voltage test

adapter -VAS 6558/16- + and HV - -4-.

●  Specification: max. 5 V
