Topic: Abolition of Sangguniang Kabataan

The youth have a significant role in developing prominent social, cultural, and

political differences in the society. Their active youth engagement necessitates for the

system's structure. This contemplation led us to the magnificent goal of establishing the

Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), which is to recognize the importance of youth in nation-

building and to serve as a practice field for leadership roles for the world . The

Sangguniang Kabataan, or Young Council, represents the youth in front of the

government in which itThe State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation building

and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social

well-being. It must instill patriotism and nationalism in the kids and promote their

participation in public and civic activities." Furthermore, the Sangguniang Kabataan is

the archetypal example of child protection. The Sangguniang Kabataan was also active

in coordinating and implementing Peace and Order Projects in the neighborhood due to

its indispensable engagement in social problems. However, Sangguniang Kabataan's

essential value of young leadership has disappeared. We've evolved into a system in

which things become a little more difficult when money and politics are involved. Many

opponents believe that SK exposes young public workers to corrupt minds and

behaviors. They are being led astray, away from their claimed representation.

It is widely acknowledged that the Sangguniang Kabataan, in its current form, has lost

its usefulness in furthering democratic principles through service-oriented young

leadership. The community has already realized that the freshly elected young leaders

in their different roles are ineffectual. As a result, suggestions to alter or remove the

Sangguniang Kabataan have been made all throughout the country. Our political history

has underlined the need of empowering our children and acknowledging their countless

accomplishments. As a result, the repeal of SK may result in the exclusion of young

people from vital roles in nation-building, which violates our Constitution's State Policy.

The youth being the country's largest sector, there is a need for representation in

local government, particularly in a Barangay, which acts as the fundamental unit of

government. As a result, it is critical for the Barangay to promote advocacy for youth

development and their role as prospective participants in nation-building. Maintaining

young representation in local government is one way to fulfill this goal. Being a youth

representative comes with the advantage of having simple access to addressing the

problems of the young in the community, because the area he serves is not as large as

a municipality, city, region, or even a nation. Empowering such positions may contribute

to the development of a more engaged and participative youth, working together to

attain the objective of leadership with quality, honesty, and accountability. In accordance

with this, proposed revisions and repeals to the Philippine Local Government Code are

thus offered.

The law intends to eliminate the SK and replace it with a Barangay Youth Councilor

to ensure that youth are still represented in the community, and by raising the age

restriction from eighteen (18) to twenty-four (24) years, he or she will have the legal

competence to be better qualified for the job. Consequently, would respond to the

clamor for the abolition of SK on the grounds that he appears to lack the capacity to act

and will address the issue that the same is incompetent to lead, that entrusting positions

with money and powers to minors greatly contributes to the allegation that it becomes a

breeding ground for corruption, perpetuates political dynasties, and lacks concrete plans

and projects, resulting in poor participation of the Katipunan ng Kabataan. Furthermore,

changing the age range will solve the issue of conflicting priorities in terms of academic

issues, personal life, and service. The passing of this measure is desired for the

reasons stated above.

As a result, I've raised the most important question. Will we destroy the concept of

youth representation just because of the problem it faces? I think you'll disagree. We

want change and an empowered framework, not elimination. We must remember that

no matter what problems the country faces, the youth cannot address them alone.

Youth should be potential partners in country building, but not the exclusive answer

to the great challenge. "Progress beyond change," this goes hand in hand with all the

moving areas of society, and it is feasible with equipped enthusiasm and resolve to be

more and have more. The burden of true progress falls not just on the youth, but on

those who want for desperate change. As I conclude, I have much respect and optimism

for the youth. I am standing for and with the kids.
