School. I'm passionate about teaching others the skills to divine the

If you know how to interpret
aspects, you can move onto
transits! Knowing how the current
planets affect the chart will help
put astrology into perspective in
alignment with real-time events
and experiences.
The transition from novice to
student to practitioner is through
the development of your
interpersonal skills and your
ability to read charts for the
individual working with you, not
by reciting cookbook-style
paragraphs on "personality".
Astrology is both a tool and a
language. It is not a belief system.
It takes time, patience and yearrrs
of research and application to
integrate and build skills in this
cosmic art.

Finally, don't make assumptions! Astrology texts can give a framework
and foundation for interpretation, but no two clients are alike, even if they
share placements. A good astrologer will know how to translate the chart
in alignment with the individuals own lived experience, and will not
generalise, assume or mislabel. A good astrologer is a cosmic counsellor,
not a fortune teller. A good astrologer will leave you feeling empowered,
understood and seen in your humanness and your spirit. A good
astrologer will support you in your own growth and self-development.

ASTROGOLD
Astrogold is my favourite
professional astrology software,
and it's now also available as an
app! If you've been wanting to use
"solarfire" but use Apple products
not PC, then astrogold is definitely
worth the investment. However,
some skill in reading and
interpreting charts is required as
it's been created for professional
use.

TIMEPASSAGES
Another apple=friendly app,
Timepassages offers the most in-
depth analysis of natal and transit
placements, allowing you to read
up on all of your placements for a
small fee ($0.99). It also has a great
synastry/compatability section too.
It's only downfall is that the
descriptions are a little convoluted
and out-dated, but it's a really
great resource for learning about
aspects in more detail.

ASTROLOGY FOR DAYS
This is a soon to be released app
from Astrologer Jessica Lanyadoo,
and at the time of creating this
resource I am beta testing the app
and it's awesome! It's clean, simple
and easy to navigate, and I will be
encouraging students at my astro
school to use this an astro logbook
and transit tracker.
THE PATTERN
This is the kind of app you
recommend your "non-astro"
friends to check out! The specific
placements aren't listed, but
instead this app uses a more
psychological approach to
explaining the expression and
nature of various aspects.

The Inner Sky
My go-to reference book for the
inner planets, this is a great
beginners book into
understanding the most basic
concepts of astrology. I use this
a textbook for my level 1
students, as it gives them deep
and thorough insight into the
mythology and archetypes of
the signs and planets, and no
other book in my opinion covers
this in the way Stephen Forrest
manages to. A must read for
every budding astrologer!

Aspects in
Astrology
Another book I use as a student
textbook, Sue Tompkins book on
Aspects is an excellent guide in
what astrology aspects are, how
they are formed and how we
interpret them. Aspects form the
heart and soul of a natal chart,
and one cannot call themselves
an astrologer until they have a
grasp of the concept of aspects
and how to interpret them. This
book is an excellent place to
begin.

The Only Way to
Learn Astrology Vol 1
A great little book that covers all
the basic and foundational
principles of astrology, I use this
as a textbook for my level 1
students. It covers signs, houses
and the planets in depth, as well
as basic skills of interpretation
for the novice student.

I also use the 4th volume of this
series for my level 1 and 2
students, when we begin to
learn about transits in our first
year, before moving into return
charts and progressions in level

This book is a fantastic
exploration of the function of the
houses in astrology, which are
imperative to honing your
foundational astrology skills.
Houses are often a part of
astrology that overwhelm
students, but this book makes
working with the house
archetypes a breeze.

Astrology for the
Soul
The original book on the karmic
north and south node
placements, Jan Spiller's classic
astrological and psychological
exploration of the moons nodes
is what most other astrologers
base their own teachings on.
This book can be quite
confronting when we are faced
with our own limitations,
comfortabilities and pathway of
soul growth, but this book is
deeply healing for the student
ready to explore their own
karmic past.

Skymates Volume 1
This volume of the Skymates
series from Steven Forrest and
his wife Jodie is a great resource
for learning about aspects in
synastry charts, i.e how one
chart relates and communicates
with another chart, whether it be
for lovers, parents, friends etc. A
prior knowledge of astrology
aspects is required before really
being able to delve into
relationship astrology, but when
you're ready this series is the
perfect place to start!

Skymates Volume 2
I think this is possibly my
favourite astrology book of all
time, as it made me fall in love
with Composite Charts and the
importance of them in
relationship astrology
interpretation techniques.
Synastry charts are a great way
of seeing how we relate to our
partner day-to-day, but the core
of the relationship is held within
the composite chart, and is a
standalone chart of the
relationship itself. I can assure
you this book will change the
way you view your intimate
relationships!

Pluto Volume 1
As any of my students know, I
am a huge fan of Jeffrey Wolf
Green's work, and his Pluto
series is groundbreaking in it's
application and interpretation of
Pluto from an evolutionary and
soul-directed perspective. If you
are curious to move away from
person-centred astrology and
into the realms of the collective
and transpersonal
consciousness, this series is a
true gift to the astrology and the
collective!

Pluto Volume 2
Volume 2 explores Pluto
through composite charts, and if
one already has a knowledge of
the function of composite charts
in astrology, then this volume
will take you deeper into
relationship dynamics and their
evolutionary nature. The nodes
are also a focal point of this
book, and by knowing the nodal
placement of your composite
chart with your partner, you can
uncover the karmic path you're
travelling together.

Planets in Transit
No booklist would be complete
without some contributions from
Robert Hand, one of the great
modern astrologers. His transit
book is a classic, and I
encourage students with a basic
grasp of transits to purchase this
text when they are ready to go
deeper, as the explanations are
a little more complex than
another transit title I've included
in this list. Also, this book often
goes in and out of print so if you
find it online grab it while you
can!

Planets in
Composite
Another brilliant composite
book, this book is written about
composite aspects, not solely
planets and house placements,
so it is also more suitable for
intermediate and advanced
astrologers to understand the
complexities of human
relationships from a cosmic
perspective.

Chiron Asteroid Goddesses

The original and the best deep-
dive about Chiron, this book by
Barbara Hand Clow explores this
modern discovery from a more
cosmic and galactic perspective,
and how to work with one's natal
Chiron placement as a bridge
between the known (Saturn) and
the unknown (Uranus). Chiron
shows our pathway of healing
and growth along our
evolutionary journey, and this
book really helps one
understand this on a more
personal level.
A classic astrology text, Asteroid
Goddesses by Demetra George
and Douglas Bloch is still one of
the better books out there on
the importance of the major
asteroids (Juno, Vesta, Ceres
and Pallas Athena) and their
influence in ones natal chart, and
the return of the divine feminine
consciousness and embodiment.

Astrology of Fate
Liz Greene has so many
incredible books, it was hard to
know which to include from her!
She is a pioneer of the
psychological astrology
movement in the 1970's, and her
work is still widely regarded
today. I particularly enjoyed this
book as I love working with
astrology to explore our past,
our psychological patterns and
the existential meaning of "fate".

The Hades Moon
As a Moon square Pluto native,
this book has been one of the
greatest assets to my own
personal growth and evolution in
the tumultuous relationship I
have with my mother. Moon
Pluto contacts are a classic
astrological signature of
challenging connections with
the mother archetype, and if you
have any natal contacts
between these two planetary
bodies this book is a must read.

Lilith
Decent insight into Lilith in
astrology is few and far
between, but this book by Tom
Jacobs is a rich resource in both
mythology and astrological
insights into the powerful dark
feminine, and her expression in
ones natal chart.

Inside Degrees
If you follow Temple of Cosmic
Astrology on socials, you will be
aware of the "chandra symbols",
as I include them in my lunar
updates. This book is by far my
favourite exploration of degree
astrology, and the influence of
each planet at each degree of
the zodiac. One of the best ways
to get intimate with your own
degrees, is to read up on your
personal degree placements
and journal around the hidden
meanings of these degrees.

Western Astrology Western Astrology
Vol 1 Vol 2
From this series, volume 2
As a history nerd, I was beyond
particularly caught my interest
excited when I discovered this
as I'm fascinated with the early
duo of books, and I've been
medieval period and its effects
avidly working my way through
on the modern world. This
the dense history of astrology
volume covers post Rome, the

middle east, medieval and
ancient world volume explores
modern astrology and where it's
history prior to the fall of Rome,
roots come from during the 18th

Astrology
I am yet to read this book, but so
many of my astro-friends have
recommended this book for me,
so I'm passing on the memo! If
you are interested in classical
and traditional astrology, this
book is an absolute must-read,
as Chris is a pioneer in this
branch of astrology. I've also
included his school and podcast
in this resource as he is a brilliant
astrologer.

Postcolonial
Astrology
I've only recently received a
copy of this book, and I feel it's
relevance to the astrology
community is immense for the
times we are living in, and
frankly nothing else like this on
the market exists right now. Alice
Sparkly Kat does a brilliant job of
transforming what you know
about astrology's past from a
political and socio-liberal
perspective, and brings a lot of
important discussion to the
table. A must read for any
modern astrologer!

Person-to-Person
Astrology
If you are looking for a deep dive
into the Sun, Moon, Venus and
Mars, Stephen Arroyo's Person-
to-Person book goes into great
detail into these planets in signs,
and catagorised by the
elements. I also like that he has
based this book on research with
his clients, and includes quotes
on the placements direct from
those who have said placement,
or are in a relationship with
someone of a particular
placement.

Parkers' Astrology
A classic astrology
compendium, I was given this
book when I was 13 and it really
took my astrology knowledge
away from sun-sign only
perspectives. It's quite
generalised, but for a book that
covers a bit of everything, it's a
great read for a beginner who
does not want to solely rely on
blogs/the net, but isn't quite
ready to dips ones toes into
more specific aspects of
astrology just yet.

Medical Astrology
I first discovered Judith Hill's
work through the Feed Your
Wild Podcast, and was blown
away but the depth and insight
of her knowledge of the body
through astrology. I recently
purchased this title (she has
many books!), and it's been
fascinating learning about the
correlation between health,
disease and ailments and the
natal placements of one's
birthchart. If you have a curiosity
for this ancient branch of
astrology, her work is a great
asset for any student.

Erotic Astrology
I wasn't planning on including
any cookbook style relationship
books, but I loved this book so
much when I found it in my
teens, and to be honest it was
kind of a bible for me and my
friends for most of our 20's. It's
quite a generalised book on the
Sun, Moon. Venus and Mars, but
it's fun and it helped me learn
some basics of these planets in
the signs and how they function.

This is by far the best website out
there for astrology, and has the
most in-depth and integrated
platform for chart creation and
interpretation. It is simple to use,
requires no login (however a free
account does allow for up to 100
saved charts) and is the most
comprehensive of any free
astrology software. It also includes
numerous articles, interactive
charts, horoscopes by professional
astrologers and much more.
ASTROLOCHERRY.COM
My absolute favourite blog-style
astrology resource, Astrolocherry
has such a magical, whimsical and
etherial way of describing natal
placements, and her writing style
made me fall in love with some of
the more challenging placements
in my own chart. This blog is a
beautiful way to get to know your
placements on a more intimate
level.

This is a great resource for more
serious astrology students, with
excellent descriptions and
examples for houses, aspects,
transits and more. The "free
lessons" section is a great addition
for students actively studying
astrology alongside other texts and
course materials.
CAFEASTROLOGY.COM
Cafe Astrology is a great site if you
want to do a quick google search
on specific aspects, house
placements or signs. The
interpretation given for placements
is fairly accurate and concise, at
least compared to a lot of other
blog sites.

digital format. I've included this aspects and house placements. I
book in my recommends list, and also really enjoy her
it's my go to reference book on synastry/composite interpretations
degree symbol astrology, and used this site extensively when
specifically chandra symbols. If I was building my interpretation
you follow my instagram you'' be skills in relationship astrology.
familiar with these symbols, as I
included them in my new and full
moon posts. The chandra symbols
open a doorway to the "angel
behind each degree", and is a
beautiful accompaniment to your

Jewel is a brilliant astrologer and
her videos have helped me
immensely over the years in
finding the right language to
interpret planetary placements and
aspects. I use this channel like a
blog, by searching specific aspects
for a more intimate interpretation.
RASALILA HEALING
Timothy is one of my favourite
astrologers, with his grounded and
insightful presence drawing me in.
He is an evolutionary astrologer,
and his lunar updates get right to
the core of the collective healing
required through these transits. He
also has his own evolutionary
astrology school (see schools).

THE LEO KING
I don't think a Youtube list would
be complete without David being
mentioned! One of the OG Youtube
astrologers, David is one of the
best astrologers of the "collective
consciousness". I don't always
agree with all of his personal
perspectives/opinions, however
his skill an astrologer cannot be
surpassed, and his accuracy in
predictive astrology is also pretty
mind-blowing!

pleasure of meeting Rick at the
