1 Firmware Update Guide

1.1 Introduction
This guide explains how to upgrade the firmware in the Anybus HMS-EN2MB-R linking device.

1.2 Step-by-Step Guide

To upgrade the gateway, the first thing to do is to download Firmware Manager II from
www.anybus.com/support. Install it on your computer. Locate the file that contains the new
firmware for the HMS-EN2MB-R.
1. Connect a PC to the USB port on the Linking Device.
2. Start Firmware Manager II. In the Firmware Manager II tool, open the firmware repository.

3. Add the HMS-EN2MB-R linking device firmware to the repository by clicking on the (+) icon.

4. Close the repository window.

5. Click the manual update icon.

6. Select EtherNet/IP Linking Device and click “Next >”.

7. Click “Create” to make a USB-serial connection to the gateway.

8. Select the communication driver “COM-Port Transport Provider” and click “Ok”.

9. Assign a name to the driver path, select the HMS-EN2MB-R linking device’s COM-port
number and click “Ok”.
If you do not know the COM-port number for your device, it can be found in the Device
Manager on your computer.

10. Reboot the linking device.

11. When this window appears, select the firmware you want to download and click “Update”.

12. The firmware update is now complete.
