THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLINE, HONESTY AND CHARACTER IN THE WORLD OF

EDUCATION

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Good morning.
Respected Mr/Mrs Teacher
As well as all my dear friends

First of all, let us give praise and thanks to God Almighty because of His blessings and guidance so that
we can gather at this place. I thank you for the opportunity that has been given to me to deliver a
speech entitled "The Importance of Discipline & Character in the World of Education"

Ladies and gentlemen,

Most people say it is intellect that makes a great scientist. They are wrong, what makes them great is
character. Character will also make us as students become individuals who have added value.
Remember that the character cannot be inherited, purchased or exchanged. The character must be built
and developed within each individual.

Currently, it is not only an economic crisis that has hit Indonesia, but a crisis of honesty and discipline.
Discipline is the main thing to achieve success. Discipline is just a simple word, but its application in
everyday life is very difficult. Just imagine if the body's system is not disciplined according to its work
function, it will definitely fall apart, right? Such is our life if we do not build discipline.

One of the government's goals is to promote character education, namely:

So that students as the nation's successors have character based on Pancasila values and can create a
school environment that is safe, honest, full of creativity and friendly.

Ladies and gentlemen,

In an effort to realize character education that takes place in a real way, not just discourse, 3 supporting
components are needed, namely: the family, the teacher at school, and the community. Character
education in schools is not merely learning knowledge but more than that, for example instilling
morals, ethical values, aesthetics, and noble character. But the most important thing is its application in
everyday life.

I will take the example of student behavior that is not good at school. For example, fighting, yelling,
not greeting when meeting teachers, stealing, littering, saying words that are not pleasant to hear and
many more. From these several examples it proves that our character is not in accordance with
Pancasila values. Do we want to be said as a nation that is said to be civilized and highly educated but
in reality, our morals are shameful in the eyes of other nations? Surely not right?
In my opinion, it is not only drug users who need to be rehabilitated, but also the nation's character
which is getting worse.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Remember the words of the Father of National Education, Ki Hajar Dewantara "Building a culture so
that students are always ready for increasingly competitive changes" means that a committed and
disciplined attitude is needed towards the implementation of character education itself and all of this
can be started from ourselves as students. So, discipline and honesty are needed in order to achieve the
goals of character education. Hopefully education is a golden bridge for the future of our nation, the
Indonesian nation can be immediately rehabilitated.

Thus my speech, I apologize if there are errors, both my speech and behavior and thank you for your
