Social work and children welfare

Social work:

It is doing or contributing to society through programs that bring about social change, development, and

empowerment. There are many ways to achieve empowerment in society. All are based on individual

passion. Social work can be a healing process for some people. It allows people who have been

traumatized to get through their trauma while helping others overcome it. Children growing up without

their parents or in toxic homes often find life traumatizing.

Foster homes:

Kids unlucky to have a home often find themselves in foster homes where foster parents bring them up.

The experience for the kids is never the same; some see it as a rescue while others find it a disaster to

them, more so if they had a place they called home. Grace, in the movie 'Short term 12' tries to heal

from her past traumas by setting up a foster home, where together with her longtime boyfriend, they

try to help a group of estranged teens. Teens who have been through depression and substance abuse.

She does this to help herself recover while looking after the kid's welfare.

Experiences in a foster home:

Foster homes give some kids a vibe of satisfaction that they forget they will eventually leave the foster

home when they are of age. In the case of Marcus, it makes him act up instead of figuring out his life

after he goes to the center. This sums up that it's good to shelter the kids and help them but always

remind them that there is life after their time in a foster home that they need to prepare to face.
