Mohr'ssaltis
anexampleofa‘doublesalt’,i.e.itcontainsthesameions as
in (FeSO4·7H2O)and(NH4)2SO4. Itissimple to prepare
becauseit is less soluble thaneitherof itsconstituentsalts.
A doublesalt in solution displays thechemistries of its
componentions becauseof no newchemical bonds are
formed.The salt is namedafter theGermanchemistKarl
FriedrichMohr,whomademanyimportantadvancesin the
methodologyof titration in the19th century. It is

slightly.FerrousAmmoniumSulphateis also called
Mohr’ssalt a light greencolour sandlike crystalline solid.
Itis a hazardoussubstanceandpreparationof

equimolarmixture of hydratedferrous sulphateand
ammonium sulphatein watercontaining a little
ofsulphuricacid.

The additionof sulfuricacid in this experimentpreventsthe

The method of preparing Mohr's
saltinvolves the dissolving an equimolar mixture of
hydratedferrous sulphate (FeSO4·7H2O) and ammonium
sulphate(NH4)2SO4 in water; containing a little of
sulphuric acid and thecrystallization from the solution. On
