For questions 19 and 20, two statements are given – one labelled Assertion(A) and the other
labelled Reason (R). Select the correct answer to these questions from the codes (i), (ii), (iii)
and (iv) as given below:
(i) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of the assertion
(ii) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of the assertion
(iii) A is true, but R is false
(iv) A is false, but R is true

21. A man can row at 8km/h in still water. If speed of current is 2km/h and he takes 4 hours
to row to a place and return back, how far is the place?
A runs 3 times as fast as B. If A gives B start of 50m, find how far must be the finishing
point on the race course so that A and B reach the goal at the same time?
22. If A= find
23. At what rate of interest will the present value of a perpetuity of Rs. 300 payable at the
end of each quarter be Rs. 24000?
24. A machine being used by accompany is estimated to have a life of 15 years. At that time
a new machine would cost Rs. 75000 and the scrap of the old machine would yield Rs
9600 only. A sinking fund is created for replacing the machine at the end of its life. What
sum should be retained by the company at the end of every year to accumulate at 6%
P.A ?
25. A manufacture produced nuts and bolts for industrial machinery. It take 1 hour of works
on machine A and 3 hours on machine B to produced a package of nuts, while it takes 3
hours on machine A and 1 hour on machine B to produce a package of bolts. He earn sa
profit of Rs. 2.50 per package on nuts and Rs. 1 per package on bolts. Form an LPP to
maximize his profit, if he operates each machine for at most 12 hours a day.

29. The demand function for a commodity is . Find the consumers surplus at the
equilibrium price
The demand and supply function are and respectively. Find the
consumers surplus and producer’s surplus at equilibrium price.
30. A company sets a side a sum of Rs. 1000 at the end of each year in a sinking fund so that
at the end of 10 years, it would amount to a balance sufficient to replace the machinery.
Assuming that the cost of machinery remains constant at the end of 10 years and that
money on 5% p.a. compound interest, find the cost of the machinery.
31. Mister Bharati wishes to purchase a flat for Rs.6000000 with a down payment of Rs
1000000 and balance in equal monthly payment for 20 years. If bank charges 7.5% p.a.
compounded monthly, calculate the EMI. Given ( )
Section D
34. A traffic engineer records the number of bicycle riders that use a particular cycle track.
He records that an average of 3.2 bicycle rider uses the cycle track every hour. Given that
the number of by cycle that use the cycle track follow the poison distribution, what is the
probability that
a. 2 or less bicycle rider will use the cycle track within an hour?
b. b. 3 or more bicycle rider will use the cycle track within an hour? Also write the
mean expectation and variance for the random variable X

The monthly salaries of 500 employees of a company are normally distributed with mean
Rs. 10000 and standard deviation Rs. 15000. How many employees have salaries
a. Less that 8000
b. More than Rs 13000
c. Between Rs. 9000 and Rs. 14500
35. A furniture dealer deals in only two items chairs and tables. He has Rs. 50000 to invest
and a space to store at most 35 items. A chair cost him Rs 1000 and table cost him Rs.
2000. The dealer earns a profit of Rs 150 and Rs.250 on a chair and a table respectively.
Formulate the above problems as an LPP to maximize the profit and solve it graphically.
Section E
36. An overhead water tank has three pipes A, B and C attached to it (as shown in figure
(II)). The inlet pipes A and B can fill the empty tank independently in 15 hours and 12
hours respectively. The outlet pipe C alone can empty a full tank in 20 hours. Based on
the above information, answer the following questions. Show steps to support your
answers.
a. For a routine cleaning of the tank, the tank needs to be emptied. If pipes A and B
are closed at the time when the tank is filled to two-fifth of its total capacity, how
long will pipe C take to empty the tank completely? 1
b. How long will it take for the empty tank to fill completely, if all the three pipes
are opened simultaneously? 1
c. On a given day, pipes A, B and C are opened (in order) at 5 am, 8 am and 9 am
respectively, to fill the empty tank. In how many hours will the tank be filled
completely?
¿
Given that the tank is half-full, only pipe C is opened at 6 AM, to empty the tank.
After closing the pipe C and an hour’s cleaning time, tank is filled completely by
pipe A and B together. What is the total time taken in the whole process?
