FOREWORD
PREFACE

‘‘A temple is a history: A temple lost is a history lost; a temple kept is a history
kept. But a temple reclaimed is a history reclaimed.’’

The state of Chhattisgarh is renowned for its numerous waterfalls, caves, lush
forests and other natural features. But it also has a mysterious identity that
not many are aware of—it boasts exquisitely carved old temples.
A temple serves as the conduit between man and the divine, assisting in the
development of spiritual knowledge and truth. It is a crucial component of
civilization and hence architecture.
This tour offered us the chance to appreciate the temples, which are among
the most stunning, mysterious, and integral components of the state.
This report, which includes case studies of numerous temples, was produced
after the trip's study and visits to those unique temples.
