GROUP ASSIGNMENT 1

DIALECTIC METHOD (30 MARKS)


Students are asked to prepare a series of questions (2 questions) that will help them to
achieve the desired learning outcomes.

General instructions:
-Form a group of 5 to 7 members.
- Send a complete list of names of each group member to the lecturer via email or
Whatsapp, before the 3rd week.
-Each group must appoint a leader and a secretary.

Assignment Instructions:
1. Starting in the 2nd week, each group will discuss topic(s) that they wanted to explore in
the dialectic assignment. The selected topic(s) need to be related to the philosophical
elements and/or current issues. For example, a topic related to critical thinking skills among
university students in Malaysia or the role of politicians in enhancing equality among
Malaysians.
2. Based on the initial exploration, group members will discuss further about the topic(s)
and create TWO questions that are related to the selected topic(s) every week (refer to the
rubric on how to develop a dialectic questions)
3.Find the best answers for the questions that have been prepared each week (refer to the
rubric for to evaluate the quality of the answers).
4. To find the best answer for each questions, group members need to use appropriate
methods of knowledge acquisition either by sharing the questions during the lecture (10
minutes before the weekly lecture session), having a discussion with their group members,
or using various sources including books and related websites. Write the answers obtained.
5. In weekly lecture series, the lecturer will randomly choose any groups to share the
questions that they have prepared with their classmates.
6. During the 12th week, each group will be required to choose ONLY 5 (SIX) QUESTIONS with
the best ANSWER from all of the questions that have been produced throughout the
semester. Gather the best 5 questions and answers, and submit it to the lecturer as a group
assignment.
Tips: Each of the best answers should be between 100 to 200 words.
