TOUR REPORT
Introduction
This report provides a summary of a study tour conducted by the University of Veterinary and Animal
Sciences, Lahore. Held on January 18th,2023 to Central Laboratory Complex at UVAS Pattoki Campus.

The purpose of the study tour was to gain knowledge about Laboratory techniques and environment
especially use of genetic tests for various purposes such as Food quality checking protocols, use of in-
vitro fertilization in embryology lab where 4 claves were born by this technique. Other than that use of
genetic testing for diagnosis purposes, meat quality checking.

During the tour, the participants visited a Genotyping lab where DNA sequencing techniques were being
used for testing pathogenic contaminants in food.

Participants met supervisors of the lab, Poultry Feedstock expert.

Overview

The tour began with a visit to Genetics and Genomics lab where the group was given a tour of facility and
had the chance to learn about genotyping and DNA sequencing. This was followed by a visit to Animal
Nutrition lab, Diagnostic Lab, Feed Chemistry Lab where we got a chance to know the importance of
quality of animal feed.

We got the chance to meet Dr. Imran Zahoor who manages all these laboratory facilities, and he educated
us about the working principles and importance of the techniques being used in each lab.

Conclusion

Overall, the study tour was a great success. The participants gained a better understanding of molecular
diagnostic techniques.
