The advantage to hire future colleagues by committee is a guarantee that all organizational members would satisfy the qualifications requires to advance a firm. It is a matter of responsibility share between hiring committee too. Hiring decision should be based on plurality of opinions. But, I do not see this as a possibility for those who just start a business and the business is so small that there is no committee at all. This should not be the measure for performance evaluation if the company just enter a business.
