1. Homework will be assigned every week or two and is usually due within one week of the
time of assignment.

2. Grading is based on:


(1) Two written reports (40%)
(a) government-regulatory issues (due 11/2/10)
(b) research on selected new energy technology (due 11/23/10)

(2) The technology oral report will be presented by each student (10%) based on the above
written report (11/22,23,24, times to be determined)
(3) Homework assignments involving energy calculations, list of energy articles
read
(4) Mid term exam (20%) (10/21/10)
(5) Final exam (20%) (12/9/10)

3. The textbook is available from the Co-op.

Textbook: Paul Roberts, The End of Oil, Houghton – Mifflin (2004)

4. Prerequisites: Upper division standing (359), graduate status (384)

5. In accordance with departmental policy, class attendance is required. E-mail contact of


the instructor or TA/grader about coursework questions is encouraged. Announcements
will be made by email.
