Mitsubishi Vehicles (1995 upwards)

Look for your Diagnostic connector.

This should be a little connector 'block', just under your dashboard (above your knee, when sitting in
driver’s seat). The connector should look something like the following diagrams.

Please note the longer edge

of the connector (pins 1 to 8).

CAUTION: The connector could be mounted UPSIDE DOWN,

so you must identify the LONG EDGE first, in order to locate the
correct pin no's. Connecting the wrong pins for this procedure,
could cause a short, damaging your vehicle’s electronics.

TOOLS REQUIRED: Jumper wire – stripped at each end (or paper clip etc)

Once you are ready to retrieve your codes, follow this procedure:

*** YOU MUST TURN KEY "OFF", BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE FOLLOWING ***

Using your Jumper Wire, insert the ends of your wire into pin numbers 1 & 4 only (see diagram below)
NOTE: Pins 1 to 8 are found on the long edge of connector.

Remember, this connector maybe mounted upside down !

Instructions:
1) DO NOT START ENGINE....instead, TURN KEY TO "ON" position, until the dashboard lights come on.
2) The ORANGE "Engine Check" light may start flashing
st
Long flashes represent the 1 code digit; short flashes
nd
represent the 2 code digit. The codes will repeat again.
3) In the same manner, check for any codes present on the
AIRBAG and/or ABS warning lights.
4) Auto transmission: if any faults are present within the Auto
transmission, the “N” (neutral) indicator dash light will flash
the appropriate codes also.
Note: continuous flashing (i.e. no sequence) of any warning
lights, indicates no fault codes present in that circuit.
5) To erase All codes: Turn key off – either remove fuse for the
ECU momentarily, or disconnect ‘negative’ battery cable for
at least 10 seconds.
6) Drive vehicle again, then re-check for codes to ensure fault has been corrected.
