One of my most vivid childhood memories is going to
the beach with my family. I was about five or six years
old. I remember feeling very excited because it was a
hot and sunny day, which doesn’t happen very often
where I’m from. I can clearly remember sitting in the
back of my dad’s car with the window down driving
along the coast. My mom turned on the radio and the
song Walking on sunshine was playing. Even now that
song makes me think of my sister singing along loudly
and getting all the words wrong! I remember when
we arrived, my sister and I jumped into the ocean
right away. It was such a fun day!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I bought a laptop from your store last month and
I’m really not happy with it. It is very slow and
keeps crashing all the time. I’ve had to re-do so
much work because it doesn’t save documents
properly. It cost $600 so I expected it to be a
good computer. Please could you give me a full
refund as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Joshua

I think that the main advantage of having your own
business is that you’d be your own boss. You could
do what you wanted and no one could argue with
you! I also think that having your own business would
be very satisfying and you would want to be as well
informed and professional as possible about your
business.
The biggest disadvantage of having your own
business would be the financial risk. I also think that
you would have to work very long hours, especially
when you are starting up your business.

What opinions you heard about the place

when they went.
Did you agree or disagree with what you heard?:

Should scientists be paid more than soccer
players?  There is no doubt that scientists are very
players?
important people in our society. They invent new
technology, discover new cures for illnesses and think
up theories about life and the universe. Many scientists
spend
their lives researching with often very little financial
reward or recognition. When we consider these
things it is easy to agree that they should be paid
more than soccer players.
However, not all scientists are working hard on finding
the cure for cancer. I read in the newspaper last week
that scientists at Oxford University had discovered
how to make the perfect cup of tea after years of

research. What a waste of time! At least soccer

players entertain people and when people go to
watch their favorite team or country play they can
forget their troubles
and relax.
Finally, while soccer players may not be academic they
do have to be very athletic and train very hard every
day.

The most embarrassing day of my life was when I
met my boyfriend’s mom for the first time. It just kept
getting worse! Firstly, I accidently drove my car into
her parked car on the driveway. She was really nice
about it but it was so embarrassing. Then when she
gave me cup of tea I was so nervous that I dropped it
on the nice clean carpet of her house. Luckily, she just
found it funny!

If only I had… studied harder when I was at school.
If I had gotten better grades, I would’ve been able
to get into a better college.

If only I hadn’t…split up with my boyfriend Luca

because I thought I was too young to be in a serious
relationship. I think that we would’ve probably been
married by now.
I wish…I had learned how to play a musical
instrument when I was younger. I think it’s much
harder to learn when you’re an adult.
I definitely wish…I hadn’t argued with my friend
Stacey last week. She’s my best friend so I hope

we make up soon.
One of my biggest regrets is… not accepting a job
offer in New York two years ago. I really wish I
had  gone now; I think it would have been
amazing.

Have you ever seen the movie  Ameli
 Ameliee? It’s one of my
favorite movies. It’s a French movie set in Montmartre
in Paris. It’s about a young woman named Amelie;
she  works as a waitress in a café called The Two
Windmills.
One day she decides she wants to do good deeds
to make the people around her happy. It’s a strange
but beautiful movie and is also funny. The leading
actress, Audrey Tautou is great in it. I love it
because
the story and characters are very interesting and
there is no other movie like it! If you like movies with
happy  endings you should definitely watch this
movie.

Hi Susanna,
I understand that it is a very difficult situation that you
are in. I’m not sure that approaching your colleague
was a good idea. Maybe you should tell your
manager what you saw but if your colleague denies
it again, then it could make him very difficult to work
with. I wonder whether the best thing to do would be
to leave an anonymous note on your manger’s desk.
You wouldn’t have to worry about your colleague
getting angry with you and then it would be up to
your manager to decide what to do.
I hope my advice helps,
Clara

I think that the best job in the world would be one
that offers free accommodation and a great salary but
would also be very interesting. The other day, I read
an advertisement for a job as an island caretaker.
You get to live on a tropical island and take care of
the animals and plants there. You also have to give
tours to small groups of tourists who visit the island.
Imagine waking up every day to a spectacular view
and fresh air and not having to work in an office
staring at a computer screen all day. I think it would
be a wonderful job.
