Reference doc nts Codes tandards The reference documents, as well as any other in- formation not covered by this specification, will be specified in the Data Sheet and/or in the supply specification. For general and construction data and for definitions, reference shall be made to the following Codes and Standards, in their last edition: ~ Hydraulic Institute standard (centrifugal pumps) > ASIM, UNI,DIN Materials - ANSI, UNI Pipes, flanges, threades - CEI, Tec Electric motors and electrical equipment Agip 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 5 2. DESIGN This chapter describes the operating conditions, construction characteristics, the materials, auxiliary equipment and accessories Of submersible centrifugal pumps. 2.4, Basic design data 2.1.1. Duties and responsibilities The design of the submersible pump and relevant au- xiliary equipment shall be Supplier's responsibility. They shall be based on the present state-of-the-art and shall comply with the Purchaser's requests expressed in this specification, the Data Sheet, the reference codes and standards and with operating, safety and main— tenance requirements. 2.1.2. Site conditions The submersible pump and relevant auxiliaries shall be suitable for the site conditions as specified on the Data sheet and/or in the Supply Specification. 2.1.3. Weight control For off-shore installation Mannfacturer shall comply the prescriptions indicated on the 05891.VAR.GEN.SPC. Agip 2.2. 2.2.4. 2.2.2, 2.2.3. 2.2.4, 2.2.5. 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 6 Operating conditioy ‘The pumps shall be designed for full load continuous duty (8.000 hrs/y). The design flowrate, referred to the impeller in- stalled, shall be preferably to the left side of the best efficient point. The characteristic head-flowrate curves shall show that the head always increases as the flowrate decreases, till this is reduced to zero. The rated flowrate and pressure conditions of the pump are meant at the upper flange of discharge column. For fire - fighting duty, the pumps shall supply also 150% of their rated capacity with a head of not less then 653. Continuous duty in these tlow ranges must be guarantee. Minimum submersibility The pump shall be positioned so that suction has a Submersibility over the min. required one, at the min. dynamic level. This min. level shall be Clearly indi- cated on the Data Sheet. 263.2, 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 7 Construction characteristic: Pump casing The max allowable hydrostatic pressure of the pump casing shall be equal to twice the operating pressure or 1,5 times the shut off pressure (most severe case) . The pump casing shall be of material suitable for the Pumped liquid, according to the data sheet requirements. ~ the thicknesses shall be designed for max. operating pressure and shall have a corrosion allowance of at least 3 mm, unless otherwise specified on the pata Sheet. Impellers The impellers shall be manufactured in a single piece and designed to withstand max. continuous speed. Im pellers must be balanced. Each impeller shall be connected to the shaft by a key ‘the material shall be suitable for the pumped liquid, in accordance with Data Sheet requirements. Shaft seals Shaft seal may be mechanical type or with mercury, according to the data sheet and/or supply Specification requirements. - When necessary, mechanical seals shall be provided with flushing line and relevant auxiliaries. Shafts and shaft jackets IL provided, shart jackets must be superficially har- dened in the guide bearings area. The material of the shaft and shaft jackets shall be suitable for the pumped liquid. 2. 2. Ag 3.5. 3.6. 367. Ip 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 8 Thrust bearings The thrust bearing is placed on the motor. It shall be able to withstand the weight of the whale rotary part. (pump + motor) and the hydraulic thrusts. Radial bearings The radial bearings shall be sleeve type. In the pump, they will be lubrified by the pumped liquid. Radial bearings material must be suitable for the pumped liquid, Piping The submersible pumps, unless otherwise indicated, shall be provided with discharge column at a height specified on the data sheet. The discharge column shall be in flanged sections whose length of 3 or 6m as specified on the Data Sheet. A shut-off valve be installed between the pump discharge flange and the discharge colnmn The positioning of the shut-off valve on the discharge column shall be such as not to give resonance phenomena with the “water hammer" pressure due to pump shutdown. Discharge column diameter shall be so that pumped fluid speed shat? he less then 3n/occ. Column material must be suitable for the pumped liquid. 2.3.8, 2.3.9. 2.3.10. 2.3.41. 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 9 Surface plate Unless otherwise indicated on the Data Sheet, the pump shall be provided with surface plate, complete of a flanged stub pipe. Said plate shall be suitable to be fixed at the support structure. It shall support the discharge column to which the pump and the motor are connected. Moreover, it shall also have the holes for the passage of the el. cable for motor feeding and, when required, for pipes for injection of seaweed ‘substances (hy: pochlorite) . The material of the plate shall be suitable ror the mechanical condition required and to withstand the site conditions specified on the Data Sheet. If the liguid pumped is toxic or dangerous, the connection between structure and plate, and the outlet points of connections, shall be provided of waterproof gaskets. Couplings ‘the joint between motor and pump shall be Manufac- turer's standard and sized to withstand the max. torque that the motor can supply. Suction filter A mesh filter of material suitable for the pumped jiquid, ‘shall be placed on pump suction. The mesh dimensions shall comply with the solids present in the liquid pumped Lo protect the pump. Motors The motor capacity shall be able to cover the bend-end of the pump and shail allow the pump start up with the discharge open. Design and construction shall be as per Manufacturer's Standard. Materials shall be suitable for the pumped liquid in accordance with data sheet indications. 2.3.42. 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 10 Cables The feeding cables shall be of submersible type sui- table for the liguid they are in contact with. They shall be fixed with brackets to the discharge column. 01581.MAC.MEC.SPC Rev. 2 July 1990 Sheet 11 MATERIALS General requirements All the parts of the machines shall be in accordance with the requirements indicated on the Data Sheet Manufacturer's standard materials properly selected for the operating conditions specified, shall be subject to Purchaser's approval.
