Having Courage

Courageous means not deterred by danger or pain, or in other words,

brave. “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage that counts”
– Winston Churchill. This quote means that it is not what you ended up with
that is important, it is how you got there. Without a doubt that, what it
means to be courageous is not being afraid to standing up for what you
believe in, fighting against something, and speaking up for what’s right.
When people think of courage, they often think of knights in shining
armor, daring military leaders, and adventurers who risk it all. However, far
more often, courage is the little things, like staying calm when danger is
inevitable. Where there is a knight in shining armor, there is always
someone waiting to rescue. Courage can be shown in a big and small ways,
but it is arguably the hardest human trait to show.
John Wayne once stated, “Courage is being scared to death, but
saddling up anyways,” Since his proclamation, this ironic man has inspired
millions of people to do what they have been afraid to do. Courage is a way
people stand up for their fears.
Courage gives you the strength to stand up for what you believe in,
even when your all alone; to shout at the top of your lungs when all others
remain silent.
Most people probably have this perception of courage as, “people
who have a sense of bravery or boldness that fight past danger without
showing any sign of fear.” Even though we all have this concept of courage,
the world around us is changing, and so the definition of courage. There is
no doubt that courage is a unique word, and we as humans stive to be
courageous, in whatever way we depict it in our minds, but the reality is that
there are multiple ways of being courageous. An act of courage is always
made out to be some noble, heroic action that wins the hearts of many
people. There is more than one way to present an act of courage, and we
need to open our eyes and realize this.
