Biographical Analysis of the poem “Invictus”

To start off in my analysis, W.E Henley's poem "Invictus" is a

biographical poem, the life of the author, more specifically, the obstacles that
come with it, how he lived it and how it should be lived. The poem portrays the
author's outlook on life, how he views the difficulties and trials he faces along
the path, and how he responds to and endures life in the face of these
obstacles. The term, which is a Latin word that meaning "unconquerable,"
refers to the inner strength of a man's spirit, which should be cultivated as a
weapon to overcome life's challenges.

Henley expresses his thoughts, uncontrollable emotions, and feelings

about his condition at the time the poem was written through this poetry. He
expresses his gratitude to God right at the start of the poem. And in fact, he
said that there isn't a gleam of optimism in his life. His future, on the other
hand, appears to be as bleak as a hole. He is thankful for his "unconquerable
soul." He claims that no amount of agony can bend his soul. During the time of
his writing, he portrays that he was unbeatable whenever he encountered
challenges. Despite the fact that situations have attempted to ruin him, he has
always fought back with courage. In truth, he admits that adversity has caused
him to bleed and weep on occasion. But he never allowed himself to kneel in
front of them and cry out in terror. Henley also claims that dread has always
loomed behind him in the third stanza. Whenever danger or adversity has
appeared in his life, he has fearlessly faced it. Inside the final stanza, Henley
declares that, despite the fact that the gate of life is narrow, he will pass
through it with enthusiasm. Furthermore, he asserts that he is the master of
his fate, or fortune. He also claims to be the captain of his own soul. In
conclusion, this poem invites people to recognize that no one has authority
over our existence. It is entirely up to us to decide how we want to live our life.
In conclusion, the poem Invictus, as well as William Ernest Henley's life,
serve as a lovely source of inspiration for those in similar situations. These
folks are urged by this poem to embrace life, to tackle obstacles head on, and
to assume full responsibility and acceptance for whatever occurs to them
because it is their fate.
