Summary
RSLogix 5000: Type 10 Code 14 Minor Fault

Question
Why do I have a type 10 code 14 minor fault?

Answer
Type 10: Energy Storage Fault

Code 14: Energy Storage Module hardware failure

The fault is linked to faulty ESM(energy storage module) in 1756-L7X and CompactLogix 5370 controllers with
internal ESM.

The ESM needs to be replaced due to a hardware fault. It is not capable of maintaining the WallClockTime
attribute or controller program at power down.

The energy storage takes about 3 seconds to charge, so on power up the fault may be present for 3 seconds.

For a brand new out of the box controller, it takes about 30 seconds to charge up.

More information can be found in 502060 - RSLogix 5000 software list Battery as one of the minor faults for
CompactLogix 5370 controllers.
Refer also to the Logix5000 Controllers Major and Minor Faults Programming Manual Publication 1756-PM014 for
additional major and minor fault information.
