acclaimed rapper and producer as credits on her resume. Growing up in Atlanta, GA, Divinity explored music from a young age. She started rapping in junior high school and began playing the bass in college. When Divinity combined the two skills, she found her unique ability to play ferocious bass lines and rap simultaneously. This display of finesse and dexterity got the attention of Victor Wooten, arguably one of the best bass-players in the world. Divinity was a featured part of Wooten's live show from 2001 through 2005 and can be heard on two of his albums, Live In America (2001, Compass) and Soul Circus (2005, Vanguard). In 2006 Divinity joined Beyonce's all-girl female band, Suga Mama, and has been touring the world with this global megastar, playing to sold-out crowds from Australia to Brazil. Divinity Roxx is a featured part of Beyonce's current DVD collection, including the Beyonce Experience (2008), I Am...Sasha Fierce (2010), and I Am...Yours (2010). Divinity has recently developed her own signature bass guitar with Warwick and is currently working on a solo CD set for release late 2011.

FUNK GUMBO 5
8-15-2011 - Written By: David L. $Money Train$ Watts & Howard Hobson Funk Gumbo Radio

Funk Gumbo 1: Who is Divinity Roxx and who is the lady

behind the persona?

Divinity Roxx: I play bass. I rap. I make-up songs and little jingles all day
long. I dance almost everyday. I laugh loud. I think a lot. I eat a lotta pizza.

Funk Gumbo 2: How did you get started in the music

business? Why did you choose the bass guitar and were you naturally drawn to play funk and rock?

Divinity Roxx: I didn't really choose the bass guitar, it found me when I was
in college. Of course I was naturally drawn to play funk and rock cuz I grew up listening to nothin but that FUNK. The bass was a natural fit with the rapping and writing I had been doing my whole life.

Funk Gumbo 4: What did you learn from Beyonce that will make you a better solo artist or have a better band?

Divinity Roxx: I learned that hard work pays off. I learned that you have to
go beyond what you thought you were capable of in order to get the absolute best out of yourself. She's an inspiration to numerous women and working with her is an incredible and rare opportunity for me to be around the best, and experience what it takes to be the best.

Funk Gumbo 5: How do you balance a personal life,

dating and friends with the constant demands of performing?

Divinity Roxx: I just do it. I don't have a personal life. I don't have a
business life. I just have one life.
