TITLE : Acids, Bases, Neutralization and pH (5E Lesson)

Lesson Objective : Students will learn about :


i. The use of Hydrochloric acid
ii. pH
Possible Student Misconceptions:
i. Acids are more dangerous than bases
ii. Bases are not harmful
iii. Substances are only acidic, basic or neutral. Most students don’t understand
that
acids and bases come in decrees of severity
Materilas :
i. 1 device (smartphone, chromebook, laptop, tablet or computer) per 3 students
ii. A method of displaying a PowerPoint presentation
iii. Common household and laboratory supplies for pH and neutralisation testing
Teacher Notes :
i. All videos can be accessed directly from the PowerPoint. To retrieve them,

 In the engagement phase, your students will watch a brief  10 – 15 minutes
