“There are quite a number of things taught in school that one has to

unlearn or at least correct”. Yes, there are things being taught in

school that are inaccurate. I was taught in biology back in highschool
that the science proved humans evolved from apes based on the
theory of evolution. Nowadays science disproved that theory. In the
part of Philippine history, ideas, there are reflections, experiences and
opinions that disprove several accounts in our history. In some cases
there are two sides of the story. Take for example the accounts of the
“site of first mass”, one side believes it took place in Butuan, the other
side believes it was in Limasawa. I believe in the saying “Who says
history is stagnant? For a historian, facts do not change; it is the way
we look at things, our interpretations, that are always changing. This
is what makes history exciting - that we can always find something
new in what is old.” by Ambeth Ocampo.

Is Ninoy Aquino Jr. a hero?

No, I believe that the late Benigno Aquino Jr. a.k.a. Ninoy Aquino is
not a hero, at best he’s just another opportunistic politician who
entered politics to fulfill his personal ambitions at all cost. He is the
classic demagogue who spent his time as an elected public official
making himself look good while his political rivals look bad, using the
classic “I’m the good guy and he’s the bad guy” card. We all know
how politics works for those who hear and watch news. Even in local
politics, there is always a saying that I am the good guy and that he is
the bad guy.

The holiday Ninoy Aquino Day was created by Republic Act 9256,
which was signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on
Feb. 25, 2004, 21 years after his death and 18 years after the People
Power Revolution, and was sponsored by Senate President Franklin
Drilon and House Speaker Jose de Venecia. Where Senate President
Franklin Drilon and House Speaker Jose de Venecia were allies in
the same party with Ninoy Aquino Jr. As you can see, the ultimate
motive is patronage politics, paying a debt to the “cult of yellow ribbon
devotees” and not to honor a “hero” who has done something great
for the natives of this archipelago. Take a look at the proponents of
this law, they are the ultimate politicians and patronage politics
experts. And what about the man they imposed upon us to honor?
What has he done for the country and the natives? Ninoy Aquino was
a congressman and a senator and during his time as a member of
both legislative bodies, not a single bill or law was passed coming
from him. If that sounds familiar, he had a son and namesake more
popularly known as Noynoy Aquino who also was a congressman
and a senator, spent 12 years there and also not a single bill or law
passed to his name.

The late Ninoy Aquino spent his time in the Senate doing privilege
speeches one after the other denouncing then President Marcos,
grandstanding to make himself look good and Marcos look bad. But
really, those speeches only benefited himself as they were all in aid of
election his personal ambition was to become president and not of
legislation.

Here is one reason why i believe that Ninoy Aquino is not a hero.
These article proved that he was communicating with the CIA before
his assassination, “Aquino was in continuous contact with US
officials, most probably even intelligence officials while he was at
Cambridge. Proof of this is a “Top Secret” National Intelligence Daily
dated June 27, 1983 issued by the CIA head, which reported:
“Moderate opposition leader Benigno Aquino told senior US officials
on Thursday he plans to leave the US and return to Manila in
August.” At the time, nobody else knew of Aquino’s plans to return
home.” - The Manila Times.
In the history of the CIA they are prominent in destabilizing, creating
chaos, proxy wars and civil wars because a leader of a country
doesn't work for their benefits.

In this world of chaos, it's our choice to be on one side of history or

the other side of history.
