was left-handed and played the guitar upside down. I influenced many pop
musicians and gave exciting stage performances, e.g. played the guitar with
my teeth or behind my back. Sometimes I ended my performances by burning
the guitar. I moved to England in 1966 and died there very young after taking
too many sleeping pills.

Who am I ?

I was the most important leader of the US civil rights movement. I was an
Afro American Baptist minister who led a series of peaceful campaigns
against segregation in the southern states. In 1963 I led about 250.000 people
Malcom X on a protest march to Washington D.C., where I made my famous “I have a
dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial. I got the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
I was murdered four years later in Memphis, Tennessee and my wife, Coretta
2 Scott King continued my work. My birthday (15th January) is an official
holiday in many US states.

Jimi Hendrix

I was born as Malcom Little and was a great African American leader. I
joined the Black Muslims in 1952, and changed my ‘slave name’ to Malcom

X and became their leader in 1963. Our aim was to create a separate African
American nation.
In 1964 I left the Black Muslims to establish the Organization of Afro-
American Unity. I declared that I was in favour of peace between the races.
But I was murdered, probably by the Black Muslims, in Harlem in 1965.

Louis Armstrong

I was a famous jazz musician and leader of a band. My nickname was
‘Satchmo’, which is the short form of ‘Satchelmouth’, because of my large
mouth. I played the trumpet and sang with a rough voice. I played a role in
more than 50 films and performed all around the world. Many people think I
was the greatest of all jazz musicians.
