Globalization, towards a higher state of humanity or a new kind of barbarism?

According to Eduardo Aninat, globalization can be defined as the increasing interaction among
and integration of diverse human societies in all important dimensions of their activities — economic,
social, political, cultural, and religious. In general, globalization has been shown to increase the standard
of living in developing countries, however some analysts warn that it can have a negative effect on
emerging economies. According to the course Global Business, globalization has led to an increase in
cross-border investment. On the other hand, increased in globalization has been linked to various
environmental challenges like loss of biodiversity caused by economic specialization.

Based on my own opinion, globalization can be both utopia and dystopia to humanity's future.
Why do I say so? First, let us look to the brighter side of it. Globalization represents free trade which
promotes global economic growth; creates jobs and lower prices for consumers. However, the general
complaint about it is that it has made the rich richer while making the non-rich poorer. According to
Forbes, we can’t stop globalization because it is an economic tsunami that sweeping the planet but
there are many things we can do to slow it down and make it more equitable. Like, we should enforce
rules or have a trade agreements.

Globalization can have various effects on countries, people, and their environment. It is not a
phenomenon that can be reversed This is the reason why it is important to strike balance between the
positives and negatives of globalization so that balance can be restored.
