The former head of the NYPD’s hate crime bureau claims in on NYPost.com
a new lawsuit that Mayor Eric Adams “destroyed” her
personal and professional reputation over claims that she 188,374
didn’t take seriously an attack on an Asian American woman.
Inspector Jessica Corey filed suit against Adams and the city
Tuesday, alleging she was defamed by the mayor after
Esther Lee — who was spit on and called a “carrier” on the
subway in October 2021 — accused her of downplaying the
attack.

“The administration takes the scourge of hate extremely seriously, and wants to ensure law enforcement
is equipped to handle these crimes with the utmost sensitivity,” a city Law Department spokesperson told
The Post. “We will review the case.”

The mayor’s office and reps for Won didn’t return requests for comment Tuesday.

Well I think the buck stops at the DA’s office. A police officer can only make arrests…essentially
he Police Department is responsible for arrests on alleged charges. The DAs Office ultimately
the crimes and if they don’t prosecute you can’t blame the cops. I think this whole
goes to the DAs office and the mayor for being irresponsible in shifting blame.

Did Esther Lee cough? What happened before the spit and statement? That makes a lot of
ifference. On the other hand, often police supervisors are reassigned because a superior
upervisor did not appreciate the way a matter was handled. Often they are blamed for things
have no control of. At times the victims of the shark eating contest at 1PP overcome the
setback and even make it to deputy police commissioner. Some do not. This is the
we have chosen.
