READING
2 Chronicles 36:1-15

The people of the land took Jehoahaz the

son of Josiah and made him king in his
father's place in Jerusalem.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old
when he began to reign, and he reigned
three months in Jerusalem.
3 Then the king of Egypt deposed him in
Jerusalem and laid on the land a tribute
of a hundred talents of silver and a
talent of gold.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his
brother king over Judah and Jerusalem,
and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But
Neco took Jehoahaz his brother and
carried him to Egypt.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old
when he began to reign, and he reigned
eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what
was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim,
and the abominations that he did, and
what was found against him, behold, they
are written in the Book of the Kings of
Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son
reigned in his place.
9 Jehoiachinwas eighteen years old when
he became king, and he reigned three
months and ten days in Jerusalem. He did
what was evil in the sight of the LORD.
10 In the spring of the year King
Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to
Babylon, with the precious vessels of the
house of the LORD, and made his
brother Zedekiah king over Judah and
Jerusalem.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old
when he began to reign, and he reigned
eleven years in Jerusalem.
12 He did what was evil in the sight of
the LORD his God. He did not humble
himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who
spoke from the mouth of the LORD.
13He also rebelled against King
Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him
swear by God. He stiffened his neck and
hardened his heart against turning to
the LORD, the God of Israel.
14 All the officers of the priests and the
people likewise were exceedingly
unfaithful, following all the abominations
of the nations. And they polluted the
house of the LORD that he had made holy
in Jerusalem.
15 The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent
persistently to them by his messengers,
because he had compassion on his
people and on his dwelling place.
16 But they kept mocking the messengers
of God, despising his words and scoffing
at his prophets, until the wrath of
the LORD rose against his people, until
there was no remedy.

like eating fish.
You take-in
the meat (good),
but throw-away
the bones (bad).
ll. God’s Role in Israel
V. 15
The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent
persistently to them by his messengers,
because he had compassion on his
people and on his dwelling place.
1. …the God of their fathers…

Deu. 30:19-20 (Moses speaking)

I call heaven and earth to witness against you
today, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose
life, that you and your offspring may live,
20 loving the LORD your God, obeying his
voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life
and length of days, that you may dwell in the
land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to
Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give
them.”
2. …sent persistently to them by his
messengers,…

2 Kings 17:13
Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah by every
prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from
your evil ways and keep my commandments
and my statutes, in accordance with all the
Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I
sent to you by my servants the prophets.”
Heb.12:25
See that you do not refuse him who is
speaking. For if they did not escape when they
refused him who warned them on earth, much
less will we escape if we reject him who warns
from heaven.
Jer.7:13 NASB
And now, because you have done all these
things,” declares the LORD, “and I spoke to
you, speaking again and again (persistently) ,but
you did not listen, and I called you but you did
not answer,
3. …because he had compassion on his
people…

2 Pet.3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as
some count slowness, but is patient toward
you, not wishing that any should perish, but
that all should reach repentance.
Heb.12:6
For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”

Ezekiel 33:11
Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I
have no pleasure in the death of the
wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way
and live; turn back, turn back from your evil
ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?
16 But
they kept mocking the messengers of
God, despising his words and scoffing at his
prophets, until the wrath of the LORD rose
against his people, until there was no remedy.

❖ God laments (moarns) the sins of

people, but still loves them all the
more!!!
Rom. 2:4 NLT
Don’t you realize how patient he is being with
you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see that he
has been waiting all this time without
punishing you, to give you time to turn from
your sin? His kindness is meant to lead you to
repentance.
➢God is not willing for
any to perish, but for all
to come to repentance.
(2 Pet 3:9b)
➢But don’t forget that
He is Just!!!
lll. Our Role in this life
1. Ambassadors

2 Cor.5:20
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,
God making his appeal through us. We implore
you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2. Examples

1 Tim 4:12
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set
the believers an example in speech, in
conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
3. Salt and Light (influencer)

Matt.5:13-15
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has
lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be
restored? It is no longer good for anything
except to be thrown out and trampled under
people's feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on
a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a
lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand,
and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the
same way, let your light shine before others,
so that they may see your good works and give
glory to your Father who is in heaven.
➢We beg and plead for
others to receive Christ
and be reconciled to
Him.
(2 Cor. 5:20)
Jn. 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only Son, that whoever believes in him should
not perish but have eternal life.
Questions for discussion:
1. Paano mo malalaman kung ano ang
tama at mali?
2. Paano mo magagaya ang compassion
ni Christ para sa iyo at para sa iba?
3. Anong suggestion mo kung paano
makapag-reconcile ng iba sa Diyos?
