B1 writing tasks

1. Email
You are going to Northampton in England for four months to do a practicum in an
international company. You are interested in renting a flat and have decided to
contact the company to ask for some help with this.
Write an email to the personnel manager in which you:
describe the kind of accommodation you want
explain the local services you will need
enquire about doing an English course during your stay

2 Email

Your English friend is coming to you for a month. She/he likes running and asks
you whether she/he could go running in your town. Write an e-mail (ca. 125
words) and inform her/him about the following:

where you can go running in your town


would you go running with her/him (why/why not)
what sports you like (why)
what other sports your town offers (e.g. swimming, tennis, etc.)

3 Letter of application

Now write your letter, not your CV


Email 4
You are thinking about learning a new musical instrument. Write an email to your
friend saying which instrument you want to learn, if you have studied music before and
if you think you will have to spend a lot of money.

Email to a friend = informal

Letter 5

You recently had an amazing experience, write a letter to your British friend explaining
what happened, why it has changed your life, and if you think you will ever have an
experience like this again.

Letter to a friend = informal.
