Please respond to the following prompt and submit at the end of class.

From the following statement below, “Friar Laurence, I state that he is not helping the situation
that Romeo and Juliet find themselves in”. I feel he is making it worse with his scientific
remedies and his advice. You will write a response to the statement justifying your response
whether you agree or disagree using information from the texts. You may back and read Act
Scene 3 and 4. Also you have read Act 4 Scene 1-3.

You will state the situation that Romeo is in and write how Friar Laurence's actions or advice
will make his situation worse.
You will state Juliet's situation and write about Friar Laurence advice or action will make her
situation worse or better with information from the text.

Friar Laurence. Hold, daughter, I do spy a kind of hope, Which craves as desperate an
execution .
As that is desperate which we would prevent.
If, rather than to marry County Paris,
Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself,
Then is it likely thou wilt undertake
A thing like death to chide away this shame,
That copest with death himself to scape from it;
And, if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy.
