SURFACTANT SOLUTIONS FOR SC PESTICIDE FORMULATIONS

ABOUT SC Formulations
In order to obtain a stable SC
formulation, the active ingredient must
remain insoluble under all temperature
conditions.

How To Develop A Suspension

Concentrate (SC) Formulation DISPERLAT® DISPERSING
Suspension Concentrate (SC), or Flowable (F) formulations are the dispersion of an insoluble solid
& WETTING AGENTS
into a liquid media. The liquid media can be water or any organic/inorganic solvent in which the
solid meets the insolubility criteria, in ppm concentrations, under all temperature conditions.
LATRO offers wide range of dispersants & wetting agents that provide a very effective dispersion
and minimum sedimentation of the active ingredient on prolonged storage.

Suspension Concentrate formulations have Our technical approach that prioritizes producers' requirements enables us to develop robust SC
three basic requirements which are: formulations using high performance and cost effective DISPERLAT® surfactants.

1. Surfactant System: Required to physically stabilize the organic solid in water;

Product Ionic Character Function
2. Suspension System: Required to prevent the technical particles from settling in the
container upon storage;
DISPERLAT® SCF Anionic Dispersing & Wetting Agent
3. Freeze/Thaw Stabilizer: Required to prevent physical deterioration of the formulation upon
being allowed to freeze and then thaw prior to application; DISPERLAT® SC 46 Nonionic Dispersing Agent

DISPERLAT® SC 86 Nonionic Wetting Agent

The following properties are required for developing
a high quality SC formulation: DISPERLAT® AFL Anionic Dispersing & Wetting Agent

DISPERLAT® SC 380 Anionic Dispersing Agent

􀀂 Long term storage stability (no settlement, stable rheological behaviour etc.)

􀀂 Fairly low viscosity (easily pourable and readily dispersible in water)

􀀂 Good stability of the diluted dispersion at the application rate of use

How does a surfactant make a difference among the active ingredients?

Since surfactants are influenced by properties that manifest themselves at the solid surface:
Key Benefits of
DISPERLAT® Surfactants
- Melting point of active ingredient,

- Water solubility of active ingredient, . Competitive price, low usage levels,

low formulation cost
- Crystalline structure,
. Provide excellent dispersion &
- Particle size and surface area
wetting performance
- Surface imperfections and impurities . Provide perfect formulation stability
