POSITION PAPER REQUIREMENTS

Heading Requirements
• Name of Nation Being Represented
• Committee Assignment
• DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME OR SCHOOL IN THE HEADING.
• This information will be collected via the submission form/drop box.
• We ask that you NOT include this information in the paper itself to ensure impartial
judging for the awards.

Basic Formatting
• Position papers should be 1–3 pages in length
• Double spaced with 1” margins all the way around
• Written in a standard font (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri) and standard size (10 – 12)

Citation Requirements
• All papers must include appropriate citations.
• Students may use any format they wish for citations (MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.)
• Works Cited page must be included AND be completed in proper format.
• Position papers submitted that do not meet citation requirements WILL NOT be
considered for awards.

Papers should include:


● An outline/overview of the issue and your nation’s position/the effect this topic has on
your nation
● An explanation your nation’s participation (or lack thereof) in current International
Policy/UN Treaties on the topic
● Policies and proposed solutions to the issue that your nation would be willing to support

Be prepared to represent your nation's interests in a crisis situation introduced the day of the
conference (keep apprised of current events leading up to the day of the conference).
