    MODALS

    1. Can/Could……puedo

    -I can play the piano now /I could play the piano at 10 years old. (habilidad)

    -Can I go out, mum?/Could I go out, Sir?(permiso)

    2. May/Might……puedo

    -I may pass the exam now/I might pass the exam tomorrow. (posibilidad)

    -May I go out, mum?/ Might I go out, Sir? (permiso)

    3. Must/Have to……debo/ tengo que

    -I must wear a uniform at school. (obligación fuerte)

    -I have to study for the exam. (obligación menos fuerte)

    4. Should/Ought to…..debería

    -I should/ought to visit Peter because he is ill.(consejo)

    5. Need to…..necesito

    -I need to buy a new pair of glasses.(necesidad)

    *Modal……I have an exam today. I should study

    *Modal Perfect……...I had an exam yesterday. I should have studied.
