Fold-Up Fabric Needle Holder

Supplies

• 5 ½” x 10 ½” rectangle of fabric
• 4 ¾” square of light-colored felt
• 18” length of narrow ribbon
• Water-soluble fabric marker (optional)

Instructions

1. Fold the fabric rectangle in half, aligning the short ends; stitch the perimeter using a ¼” seam
allowance, leaving a 2” opening at one end of the seam for turning.

2. Clip the corners, then turn right side out. Fold the opening seam allowances to the wrong
side; press.

3. Edgestitch the perimeter, closing the opening.

4. Center the felt over the fabric square.

5. Fold the ribbon in half, aligning the ends. Tuck the fold ½” between the felt and fabric, 1 ¼”
from one corner, so the ends are sticking out.

6. Edgestitch the felt perimeter, backstitching over

the ribbon ends to secure.

7. Mark halfway along each edge; connect the lines

to quarter-mark the square, then stitch over the
lines.

8. For temporary labeling, use a water-soluble

fabric marker to label each felt quadrant with
needle types, sizes and hours of use. Store hand
or machine sewing needles by threading them
through the felt layer.

9. Fold the organizer and tie the ribbon to secure.
