SALAD
APPETIZERS
FRUIT SALAD
Fruit Salad is a general term referring to a fruit dish. This
dish is typically composed of an assortment of fruits served
as is or combined with different types of sweet liquid and
table cream. This can either be served as an appetizer, a
side dish, and as a dessert. In the Philippines, fruit salad is
considered to be more of a dessert rather than an appetizer
or side dish. The Filipino version of the fruit salad requires
the use of condensed milk and table cream which makes
the dish rich and sweet.
INGREDIENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Drain the juice from the fruit cocktail and transfer the canned
fruits in a bowl.
Combine the fruit cocktail, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and
nata de coco then toss lightly.
Add the condensed milk then mix lightly. Be extra careful so that
the fruits will remain intact.
Add the table cream / medium cream then mix again. Make sure
that the cream is properly distributed amongst the fruits.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
Serve Chilled. Share and Enjoy!
ACCOMPANIMENTS
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat the oil in a deep pan. Sauté garlic and onion until aromatic.
Stir in the tomatoes and cook until soft.
Add the ground pork and cook until brown. Season with ground
black pepper and fish sauce (or salt, if preferred). Don’t be turned
off by the smell of the fish sauce, as that would evaporate as the
mixture cooks. When the pork has browned pour in the broth or
water and bring to a boil.
Add the potatoes and carrots and simmer covered until the
vegetables are slightly tender. Add the bell peppers and raisins.
Continue to cook until all the veggies are tender but not mushy.
Pour in the ketchup or tomato sauce. Stir to mix everything well.
If you find the sauce to be a little tart, sprinkle a little brown
sugar to balance the flavors. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Serve
with boiled eggs or quail eggs (if available) and jasmine rice.

it is often served as a side dish to barbecue, fried chicken,
or other picnic style dishes.

refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

DESSERT SALADS
These salads are generally sweet because they are served in
the last course of a meal. Thus, they are considered
desserts. They are composed mostly of fresh, canned, and
processed fruits; molded gelatins of varying flavors; or
mixed with fruits, nuts, and dairy products.
BANANA SPLIT
A banana split is an American ice cream-based
dessert consisting of a peeled banana cut in half
lengthwise, and served with ice-cream and sauce

but the classic banana split is made with three
scoops of ice cream.
