Measles Symptoms and Prevention

Measures is a viral disease that causes rashes, fever, cough, and red eyes. It spreads through coughing, sneezing, or close personal contact. Common symptoms appear 7-14 days after exposure and include Koplik spots inside the mouth. While there is no cure for measles, vaccines and vitamin A can reduce symptoms and prevent infection if administered shortly after exposure. Getting both doses of the MMR vaccine, typically at ages 1 and 4-6, is the best way to protect against this highly contagious disease.
