Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing with regard to the article published by your magazine in which it is argued that
pop music contributes nothing to people’s lives. I am of the opinion that the points you have put
forward and the way the arguments are structured come off as to harsh and unbalanced to the reader.

To begin with, I believe adjectives that have been used in the article to characterise pop
music such as “trashy” and “tasteless” give the impression that the person who was writing the article is
trying to put down the fans of said music, rather than the creation itself.Instead, more toned down or
general phrases such as “comercial” or “overrated”,could be just as critical without directly attacking
the suporters.

Besides, the argument that reinforces the idea that the pop janra ads nothing to people’s
lifes simply because of it’s lack of deeper meanings fails to recognize that the sole purpose of this music
is to be easily understood. Moreover, where the redactor tries to argue that with time our generational
music has gotten dumbed down, and as a result so had we, I believe it is important to mention that pop
music actually takes inspiration from classics that were more popular(rock, country, etc), but it does it in
such a way that it is easily enjoyable and captivating.

Finally, I consider it is essential to also mention the therapeutic side of pop music that hasn’t
been covered in the article. After a long, stressful day in the city many come home and blast their
favourite artist to either relax or raise their spirits, and the benefits of easily comprehensible music such
as pop don’t stop here.

Once again,I would like to express my disapproval of the way the article was worded, failing
to take into consideration all aspects of the subject and bringing a lot of negative light on an otherwise
light and positive topic.I hope to see more effort put into writing and documenting for future articles.

Yours faithfully,

Iulia Gradinaru.
