Four students in Kentucky were inspired by the movie "Ocean's 11" to steal rare books from their university library to sell on the black market. They first attempted in disguise but left when they saw other librarians. Their next attempt without costumes also failed when the librarian they attacked did not lose consciousness and started screaming, and the books were too heavy for them to carry away. All four students received 7 years in prison, and the story was later made into a film.

Hi Anton, look what a ridiculous story I found on the Internet.
Students inspired by the movie "Ocean's 11" In 2004, four
students from Kentucky, after watching the movie "Ocean's 11" decided that they could easily repeat this plot. The guys wanted to steal exclusive books: "The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin", drawings and sketches of naturalist John James Audubon from the university library and sell them on the black market. During the first attempt, the students dressed up as elderly men and glued on fake mustaches. When the guys saw two librarians on shift, they went home. The next time they came to the library without costumes. The plan was that one of the students would attack the librarian while the others would quietly take the books. The plan failed for two reasons. First: the librarian did not lose consciousness, but started screaming, attracting the attention of the library readers. The second: the books were heavier than the students thought, so the boys lost them on the way out. Each of the students received 7 years in prison. In 2018, a film based on this story was released.
