Performance Art And Performing Art

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between

these phrases. Many would assume that both these phrases are
synonymous and are interchangeable. However, they are
unquestionably not.
Performance Art is an ageless form of art, that is created and presented
in an exhibition, to an audience, while the artist themselves, or other
performers, execute said actions towards the spectators. Artists usually
use their own body as a medium to express what they want to
communicate with the world.
Performing arts on the other hand, typically works and indulges in the
fields of acting, dancing, and music as well as in conservatoires and

other conventional performance venues. Its products can include forms

of virtually pleasing art like ballet, musical concert, or theatre.

In conclusion, Performing Arts

is primarily skill- based, while
Performance Art is primarily
concept based.
Installation Art

Installation art is a branch of arts, that consists of three-dimensional

pieces that are site-specific and are intended to alter how a location is
perceived. Installation art uses its surroundings to create meaning and
context out of what’s being presented.
Installation art is a wholly transient work of art, but its significance,
meaning, and underlying idea will exist eternally.
Installation artworks are created in public or private spaces, as well as
exhibition spaces like galleries and museums. They are usually
temporary but can be permanent.
A very wide variety of materials, both natural and artificial, can be
utilized in installations, providing the artist total creative control over
the work.
How I will create my setup/installation/ performance
art
For the concept of my performance art, I decided to show dyslexia,
something that I have personally dealt with ever since I was a child. I
plan to write down challenges that I faced from the beginning, for
instance, writing everything upside down, the order of letters in a word
being rearranged, similar sounding letters replaced with one another
etc.
I’ll be carrying this out on a huge piece of paper, repeating the same
pattern over and over again. This concept I chose is something that
holds great personal value for me as I have mostly hidden it from
people. Hence, I find it very befitting to our assignment of publicizing a
private act.
