Instructions for installation of yagi antennas

Installation_instructions_yagi_antennas.doc [ Word 2000 ] slghh

Basic information on the Yagi antenna:

1. A Yagi antenna is a directional antenna. In contrast to the helical antenna FL 70, this
antenna is only able to receive signals in a certain wave angle. However, these
signals are amplified by the antenna and forwarded through the supplied antenna
cable to the receiver. For that reason, the antenna should always be directed towards
the working range. Fig. 1 shows an example of how not to install the antenna. As
shown, the antenna is pointed directly towards the jib. In this case, radio waves have
problems to overcome the steel structure.

Fig. 1:

For that reason, the antenna should be mounted as shown in Fig. 2.

Note: To obtain the best possible result, the Yagi antenna should not be
connected directly to the steel structure. To install the antenna, a plastic
tube should be used, which may simply be attached to the braces of the jib
by means of cable ties. The Yagi antenna should then be offset to the
outside by about 1 m. Please note that there must be enough space left for
the crane trolley to clear the antenna, i.e. when mounting the antenna,
make sure that appropriate minimum distances are maintained.
