THE USE OF CAKE APPLICATION IN TEACHING SPEAKING TO

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL’S STUDENTS

ABSTRAK
Siswa sekarang berdiri di tepi revolusi teknologi yang disebut revolusi industri 4.0, daripada
mengarahkan siswa untuk menghafal murni, menciptakan metode pengajaran yang baik dengan
menggunakan teknologi sebagai media yang diinginkan. Oleh karena itu, sangat penting bagi
pendidik saat ini, guru bahasa Inggris harus dapat mengintegrasikan metode pengajaran dengan
media yang sesuai di ruang kelas untuk mendapatkan tujuan mengajar dan belajar secara efektif
dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan aplikasi
Cake dalam mengajarkan keterampilan berbicara kepada siswa SMA dan persepsi siswa tentang
aplikasi tersebut. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan desain penelitian studi kasus.
Observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara digunakan sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Subjek
penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X IPA I SMA PGRI 3 BOGOR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
penggunaan aplikasi Cake dalam belajar keterampilan berbicara dapat menciptakan pembelajaran
yang menyenangkan, meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan berbicara siswa, dan mempengaruhi
kepercayaan diri siswa.

ABSTRACT
Students are standing on the edge of a technological revolution that is called industry revolution
4.0, rather than leading students to pure memorization, creating a good teaching method with using
technology as a media is desired. Therefore, it is essential to today’s educator, an English
teacher should be able to integrate a teaching method with appropriate media to bring together in the
classroom to gain the goal of teaching and learning effectively in an enjoyable way. This article
explores the use of Cake application in teaching speaking to senior high school students. The aim of
this study was to find out whether the use of Cake application in teaching speaking skill to senior high
school students, and the students’ perception about Cake application. The approach of this study was
qualitative. Observation, questionnaire and interview were used as the instruments of eliciting the data.
The subjects of this study were the tenth grade science one students of SMA PGRI 3 BOGOR. The
results are those application creating fun learning, improving students’ motivation and their speaking
skill, also affects students’ confidence.
