OUTLANDER 800 EFI Programming the Outlander

BRP has introduced an all new model for 2006, 800
the Outlander 800 H.O. EFI. This communication
contains critical information your Service The 2006 Outlander 800 HO EFI adds D.E.S.S.

There is a chip in the key. All chips have their own

vdd2006-001-030 code. All vehicles share the same key pattern;
the key code makes the difference.
N OT E : The new Outlander 800 H.O. EFI will
not start until a key code is programmed in
the vehicle's ECM using B.U.D.S.

NEW B.U.D.S. VERSION:
BRP Utility Diagnostic Software (B.U.D.S.) is no
longer limited to our Sea-Doo or Ski-Doo product
line-up. With the introduction of the new 2006
Outlander 800 H.O. EFI, all the functionality of
B.U.D.S. is now available on this new model.

B.U.D.S. software is well known by our Ski-doo and

Sea-doo dealers, but is new to the ATV only dealers.
ATV dealers must familiarize themselves with
B.U.D.S. since it is now an essential tool to
program D.E.S.S. keys and to do troubleshooting.
The latest B.U.D.S. version is always available
from BOSSWeb, under “ComCenter”, “B.U.D.S.
& MPEM” (www.bossweb.brp.com).
This is a list of typical tasks that can be
performed with B.U.D.S.:
Test, add or remove D.E.S.S. Keys
Adjust engine parameters
Activate vehicle functions
Monitor vehicle
Read and reset engine historical data
Save vehicle information to disk
Print vehicle information
Flash ECU/cluster

You will need to download the latest B.U.D.S.
version from BOSSWeb to program the new
2006 Outlander 800 H.O. EFI. You can also
order the B.U.D.S. installation CD, version
2.3.2, (P/N 529 036 024). The CD will be in
stock at the end of June, 2005.
When using the latest B.U.D.S. version, you
must contact a BRP Technology Support
Representative to get an access code.
Bombardier ATV Only Dealers
If you are a Bombardier ATV only dealers:
The new MPI–2 components will be auto-shipped
to you by the end of June, 2005.

Multiline Dealers
If you are a Multiline dealer (Bombardier ATV
with Sea-Doo and/or Ski-Doo):
The VCK (MPI) can be used to operate BUDS,
therefore no additional hardware is needed.

MPI-2 components are:

– 529 036 018: MPI-2 interface card
– 710 000 851: diagnostic cable
– 529 036 024: B.U.D.S. 2.3.2 software CD

2/ 3 2006-1 Service
 This hardware will replace the previous MPI
kit. It has the same function, and will work
on other BRP product lines.
You must install the latest B.U.D.S. version
and contact a BRP Technology Support
Representative to get an access code.
Make sure to install B.U.D.S. program before
connecting the MPI-2 on a computer, follow
the instruction steps on the CD.
In the future, you will be able to
download updated version from BOSSWeb
(www.bossweb.brp.com).
Minimum System
Requirements to Use B.U.D.S.
and New MPI-2
You will need a computer accessible in your
shop with the following requirements in order
to install and operate B.U.D.S.:
Pentium processor or higher
One unused USB port (can be an add-on card)
Microsoft Window 98, ME, Windows 2000,
XP or more recent operating system ( Win95
and Win NT 4 do not support USB)
12 MB of hard disk space for compact installation
(20 MB recommended for typical installation)
Minimum 32 MB of RAM for Win98 (64
MB or higher recommended), Minimum 64
MB of RAM for Win ME and Win 2000 (128
MB or higher recommended), 256 MB of
RAM or higher for Win XP
A display resolution of 640 by 480 with
at least 256 colors (800 x 600 with 65000
colors or 16 bits recommended)
3.5” floppy disk drive, USB memory card
or CD-ROM drive to transfer disks if not
connected to Web
