Worksheet 4A: Using the present continuous


We use the present continuous to talk about plans and arrangements that have already been made.
Usually, a time and a place have been decided and often agreed with another person.
 Are you coming to the party tomorrow? Yes, I am.
The contracted form is common in positive and negative statements.
 I’m coming / I’m not coming to the party tomorrow.
To form the present continuous, use the present simple of the verb be + the present participle.
The present participle is the form of the verb ending in -ing.

A Write the present participles of the verbs. The first one has been done for you.

We use the present continuous to talk about plans and arrangements that have already been made.

Remember, the present simple is used to refer to habits and states, or if something is fixed,
like a timetable. For example:
 The train leaves at 8pm. (A train leaves every day at 8pm.)
