Taqdir

The story revolves around 3 key characters - Isha Bhatia, Anirudh Jaiswal, and Subhojit Sen. Isha is a
social butterfly who wanna enjoy every bit of her life and never serious while Anirudh is a handsome
hunk born in a rich business family and heart throb of many girls. On the other hand, Subhojit is a
selfless patriot and a dedicated activist of Hindutva Movement.

Subhojit belongs from a Bengali family who have been worst victim of Partition and leaving everything
behind had to flee and settle in Sodepur(WB) entirely. Since, his childhood he had heard his family
history from his grandparents and had seen his grandfather to often cry till his last day thinking about
his childhood memories in Bangladesh. In 2015, after release of film “Rajkahini” , he starts developing
interest in partition history and slowly developed fondness towards Hindutva Movement. Since his
childhood he wanna be a soldier, but due to medical complexities when he failed to join army, he
decides to contribute to the nation as lawyer. Moreover, the involvement of bengali communists in the
several anti national movement makes him feel the need to revive the lost glory of his community as
true nationalists and not traitors. With this motto he goes to study in a top law college in Delhi. There he
comes in contact with ABVP student leaders under whose motivation he actively joins New Delhi based
pro Hindutva NGO - Bikash.

Isha is a party loving outgoing girl . One of the major reason behind this is from very childhood she has
seen her mom to be tortured often by her drunkard father. She also got sometimes beaten by her dad
for no reason, until her parents decided to live separately. However, this made them face economic
problems. She wanna forget these problems by chilling with her friends. She has been brought up
singlehandedly by her mom in Gaziabad, UP and like other girls of the school  always had a secret crush
on Anirudh , her classmate, since 9th standard. So, when he proposes in mid of class 11, she starts flying
in the air and had great relationship for next 1.5 years of school life which continues till 1st year as both
joins same business management school in Delhi. However, from second year the relationship changes
as Anirudh taking her for granted starts mistreating . He had cheated her several times with many other
girls. However, Isha keeps on tolerating as into the darkness of life he was like sunshine.

On one fine evening she goes to a Musical concert organised by NGO Bikash for charity,with her friend
Khushi. There she meets Subhojit, who is Khushi’s friend as well as her co-worker in the NGO . Slowly,
Subhojit and Isha develop a friendly bonding. Meanwhile when he has to go to Jaipur for his NGO
related work, Isha comes to know about Anirudh had this time fallen for one of her closest friend Janvi
and they had spent few nights in Mussorie. This shockens Isha as she never expected this from Janvi,
who she considered to be like her sister. She could trust none and one night, she even tries to commit
suicide. It was only due to her few friends that she was taken to the hospital on right time , thus, saving
her life. Though she survived she went into chronic depression. When, Shubhojit returned from trip and
became aware of this, he decided to do everything to bring her back to her normal life. Though initially
he felt certain emotional resistance from her initially, due to his genuine efforts succeeded in becoming
her confidant.

As a result they started spending more time and slowly developed “more than friend” bonding. They
decided to go for a trip to Shimla. However, just a day before the trip Subhojit got arrested for
participating in a political protest.

After two days when he gets bail , Shubhojit was afraid to meet Isha as she may be angry for trip
cancellation. However, when he narrated the whole incident he noticed she wholeheartedly understood
him. As time passed, Isha appeared to be fresh morning in Shubhojit’s dull life who has lost his mother in
his childhood and whose father had no time for him. Soon he started developing feelig for her but when
confessed but in reply Isha said she is not sure about her feelings for him and also, in no position to get
another heartbreak. Another reason is though she could come out of her depression, she has now
become self doubter, and at no cost wanna be a burden for Shubhojit . However, also at no cost she
wanna lose this friend. For next one year Shubhojit started to focus on his commitments towards
leaving the rest in the hands of destiny. This way their college life ended. Thereafter, Subhojit decided to
go to Kolkata for practice under his father’s friend while Isha went to Bangalore for pursuing MBA.

This way few years were gone . Now, Shubhojit is a well established advocate and Hindutvabadi leader
at the just age 27 years known fighting many pro Hindutva cases across Bengal while Isha is working as
HR in a reknowned MNC in Bangalore. However, distance and time never felt as a barrier for their
friendship.

For past three years he is fighting in Calcutta High Court for restoring the land of Adinath Mandir, over
which a masjid was illegally constructed under Bengal Sultanate in 14 th century. So, despite being
pressurized for marriage, he has not agreed. Also, some part of his heart still believes someday Isha will
understand and accept him. Finally, on Isha’s 26 th birthday he decides to propose her but this time for
marriage.

He is totally unaware of the fact that Anirudh has come back in Isha’s life, just few months back. When,
Isha had met him this time in a coffee shop , Anirudh has totally changed from a playboy to a
responsible family orinted person(after his parents’ accidental death) , expanding his father’s business
globally with great success. Also, seeing Anirudh to feel genuinely sorry for his past deeds made her to
pardon him. This way their friendship restarted . However when Anirudh proposed her for marriage that
too on the mid-night of her birthday , she got overwhelmed with mixed emotions. On one hand, her first
love is coming back into her life as a responsible man , on another side it is he who is responsible for her
pshychological problems . She realized she needs time. Situation becomes more complex with Subhojit
proposing her on next day. Subhojit’s genuine feelings for her is beyond doubt . At the same time it is
also true on anyday his commitment towards nation is more important than responsibilities towards
her. As a girl who now wants a peaceful life is now in utter dilemma.
 Few weeks later, the judgement of Adina Masjid comes with victory of hindus, while muslims were
given land within the Zila to build Masjid, on the lines of Ayodhya Verdict. This made Subhojit to appear
as hero before the hindus who for more than last 2 decades have been oppressed by the present state
gov. and it’s anti constitutional vote bank politics. Some even started considering him Messiah and
comparing with National heroes like Bose and Dr. Shymaprasad Mukherjee. The nationalists across
India were of the opinion the momentum which has now been built by Subhojit may save Bengal from
becoming another Kashmir .

However, for the leftist media houses he became a person who wanna destroy the country’s secular
fabric. Also, the Islamists did not take this defeat lightly. While some appealed to the Supreme Court
against the judgement , some were looking for a bloody revenge. While a significant hindu mass of
Bengal were celebrating the victory , Subhojit was mentally disturbed by the sudden entry of Anirudh in
his love’s life, a news which he has received recently from their common friend, Joy . Moreover, the fact
that Isha who has never hided anything in these past few year has not told anything about this made
him feel depressed. He started feeling as if he is very soon gonna lose her or may be has already lost,
who knows. In this situation, one evening while returning home he got deadly attacked by few
assailants who fired 8 bullets into his body. It was only due to the initiative of some people, he could be
taken to the hospital in due time.

Though surgeries were successful , but , he has still not come to his full senses . Doctor said his lungs
have been brutually injured and is living on oxygen support. In this situation only miracle can now save
his life. Next day evening when the news reached to Isha via Khushi, their common friend. She felt it is
the time when she must stand with her old friend. But, travelling a distance from Bangalore to Kolkata in
such a small span of time, is next to impossible. When she told this to Anirudh , he gave his best efforts
to arrange flight tickets for next day morning as well as accompany her all the way.

That night when Subhojit came to somewhat his full senses, he realized in present scenario if he dies it
can lead to mass agitation from the hindus and topple the present gov.(which is not possible otherwise)
and replace it with a nationalist one, the only way to save his community and nation. Moreover, the
feeling that he has lost his love of life forever was enough for his mental breakdown. Thus, after seeing
that the nurse, the only person in the room was in deep sleep , he opened his oxygen mask . He soon
started feeling out of breathe . He realized now death was too near. For the last time he imagined Isha’s
face . Then, immediately saw as if bharat mata has come to give him the ultimate comfort in her lap.
Next day when this news became public , medias raised several questions on hospital’s negligency,
followed by public outrage. Government even had to arrange for police protection.

Ultimately , when Isha and Anirudh reached Kolkata Airport ,Shubhojit’s body has already been
cremated. But she was unaware. Only when they reached his home, she got this news .Being unable to
take this shock she fainted. After coming back to her senses , for several months she has into the phase
of depression, for another time in her life. Anirudh realized her unprofessed love for Shubhojit.
Subhojit’s murder created so great political turmoil in Bengal that within next few month the ruling
government got replaced by the nationalist party, which was in opposition. Thereafter, a news journal
published an article with the headline, “The nation got saved at nationalist’s cost”.
