Orientation : Joy is an inspirational film based on a true story. The subject is


Joy Mangano (Lawrence), the Long Island-based entrepreneur who designed and
self-manufactured the self-wringing Miracle Mop in the early 1990s. The story
begins with a child named joy, she good at handicrafts. She has creativity skill at
her age. She always be patient and focus to make a things with her own hands.
Which means, she is talented. But, good things never come to Joy. She tired
everyday because her job and activities. She has to take care her grandma and
own child. But, her husband never care to Joy. Then, their relationship is not going
well. So, will Joy became a success person and strong woman?
Interpretative recount : One day, Joy and her family has a vacation on a private
ship. She accidentally dropped a glass of wine. The floor made from an expensive
wooden. So, the wooden would be defected if she not hurry to clean it. She take a
mop the try to clean the broken glass and wine. Her hands bleeding after clean
the wine because of the broken glass. Then, she has an idea about a mop, that
doesn't need hands to squeeze the mop. Despite skepticism from her father, Rudy
(Robert De Niro), and sister, Peggy (Elizabeth Rohm), Joy raises enough money to
make 100 mops, which she sells locally. She try to promote her products in front
of supermarket, which means illegally. Her mop doesn't get an intention from
peoples who came to the supermarket. This scene was emotionally, the acting
was incredible. Joy doesn't give up. Then, she met her friend and ex-husband,
Tony (Edgar Ramirez), secures her an interview with QVC executive Neil Walker
(Bradley Cooper), she’s given an opportunity to sell the Miracle Mop on TV. But,
the sales are poor and make her product look like useless. Although initial sales
are poor, Joy persuades Neil to allow her to replace the “professional” presenter;
her appearance is a success. The mop sells more than 18,000 units and Joy
appears to be on her way. Once again, she proved that she is fit at this role.
Audience will feel what Joy feel in the film. The plot of the film look like a
rollercoster. Joy became a person who failed then raised up again and failed
again. Stress, lonely, tired, failed, and she just has a little money that used for
making a mop. But, she doesn't give up. She always look an opportunity to
become success. Because, now it's her dream. The film is suitable for all age,
especially a business man or a young man who wants to become a billionaire.
