If I could produce one sentence that summarizes my understanding from the video, it would
be “Islam as a way of life”. Islamic worldview serves as a guide of how I should live as it
encompasses both world and the hereafter. Islam is a comprehensive and universal religion.

It has been proven from Al Quran that seeking knowledge is an obligation for a
Muslim. Acquiring knowledge is not only for the purpose to apply in this world but also for
akhirah. As a medical practitioner, I am very thankful and blessed that treating patients will
serve that purpose, Insya Allah.

Faith in Islam will always be guidance in studying. I still remember from my learning
in secondary school about human creation from sperm and ovum. This is similar to what has
been written in Al Quran, surah Al Mukminun. Of course, Darwinism's theory about human
evolution is the opposite. As Muslims, it is a must for us to oppose the theory that is against
Al Quran.

The Islamic worldview is also unlike the western worldview or secularism. From the
western point of view, their paradigm will always shift to fulfill the benefits of certain
people, and accustomed based on “modernization” in the name of “human rights”. In 1952,
homosexuality used to be classified as “sexual deviation” in the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a manual published by the American Psychiatric
Association. Who would have thought that LGBT and queer community has slowly and now
rapidly been accepted now! And now it has been removed from DSM. This shows that
human rules will always be changing and limitless if it is not based on religion or the words
of Allah.

Nevertheless, Islam is universal and human life is the most priority. For example,
“non-halal” medication such as enoxaparin is permissible as it is the best anticoagulant yet
for the patient though the source is from bovine. This is also the same case with the vaccine,
just to name a few.

In conclusion, the Islamic worldview is fundamental in my practice as a Muslim

doctor. I am here to study to become a good physician, who will serve the best for my
ummah, and for myself for akhirah. And of course, in the back of my mind to follow Islamic
guidance who is very relevant until the end of time.
