Coming of Age film plan 1: Storyline description – to be adjusted:

Scene 1

A Saturday morning A solar flare (announced by the radio) has disrupted all
telecommunications across the world. All internet is down – that means no google, Netflix,
socials, games, Sat Nav and music (streaming services). A girl PHOEBE searches for her
mums’ old rotary phone – she plugs it into the wall and scrambles for a phone book. She
calls her best friend JESS. Jess’ mum picks up – Phoebe asks for her friend who quickly
rushes down stairs. They form a plan of what to do with themselves – quickly hanging up
the phone after agreeing to meet at Jess’ house. We see shots of them packing bags of food
and rushing around her house – before shots of them running down the middle of empty
roads and along paths – dragging each other by the hands. They arrive at LOLAs house – Lola
hadn’t previously got a call. Lola opens the door – half awake – energy not nearly as high as
the others. She still looks pleased to see them but is not yet awake. They explain something
to her which is incoherent to us and her at this time in the morning and she gets moved
around and her things gathered whilst confusedly being pushed out her own front door.
Further they rush around roads again to the last of their groups house. IVY opens her door
already expecting the energy of the rest of the group – she smiles and cheers – declaring
that she needs to get out of the house – her bag already packed. (maybe) She’s about to
leave when she says “one more thing” and stuffs a bottle of vodka into her bag.

Scene 2

They are walking down long country roads discussing normal teenage rubbish, hoodies
wrapped around their wastes – maybe one of them wielding a large stick they found (the
most childish of the group)
