Roman Numerals

Rules

1) Putting a letter after a bigger value, means you add it.

2) Putting a letter before a bigger value means you


subtract it.

3) The letters can be repeated three times only.

4) V is never subtracted.

5) I can be subtracted from V and X only.

6) V, L, D are never repeated.

a) 35

= 30+ 5 [Expanded form]

= XXX + V

= XXXV
b) 24

= 20 + 4

= XX+ IV

= XXIV

c) 49

= 40 + 9

= XL + IX

= XLIX
